Metroid Prime (2002) decided to revisit this before jumping into prime 4 since it's been quite a while. what a marvel honestly. i played with the source engine movement mod to mess around with some rocket jump-related sequence breaks and it really added a lot to the experience to me

Hyper Metroid SUPER (2025) never played the original but this is fantastic, if a bit large map-wise. the bosses are also much more challenging than the original game. if you want more super metroid, i can highly recommend this

hud i had in mind for this. also the speed booster would be like dread where you just press it once while running to activate it

mockup of a UI for my theoretical "super metroid make the game not have an extremely uncomfortable control layout" hack, and how it compares to the original. missiles, super missiles, and power bombs have a border around them with the label of "ammunition". off to the right is the lone speed booster icon, with the label "active" on top and "speed" on the bottom. theoretically pressing select would switch to the grapple beam and x-ray visor. the health and map elements are unchanged. the whole UI takes up about the same screen space as the original

Metroid Prime: Hunters (2006) fun little classic FPS romp but not really what i'm looking for in a metroid game. the hunters mechanic was kind of obnoxious though, and the final boss was boring. i'll probably play some netplay for this soon. also the best advertisement for a steam controller lol

its a little funny how this monster hunter collab gave us a better gravity suit than other m, where this suit design originated from

purple alt colour scheme for the varia suit armour set in monster hunter generations, reminiscent of the gravity suit

Metroid Prime 3 - Corruption (2007) somehow this ended up being my favourite one lol. nothing really bogged down the pace that much. the shooting was fun once i got used to the strange sensitivity settings, though the game was more heavy on shooting than the previous ones

Metroid Prime 2 - Echoes (2004) the midgame kind of struggles from poor navigation (particularly in torvus bog) but i ended up really liking it, probably more than the first game
