I just started playing @somethingclassic.bsky.social's Quartet, and I'm really enjoying it so far! Scratches the classic JRPG itch, but with so many nice quality-of-life features! Beautiful visuals, and super catchy music I found myself humming instantly! Looking forward to getting deeper into it 😄

And it's finished! @dandock.bsky.social knocked it out of the park again! I highly recommend it for anyone interested in Batman: The Animated Series or even generally in the history of animation in the US

Electronics peeps: my battery-powered blinds are a pain to charge (high up -> rearrange the room to fit the big ladder). They use a 3.5x1.1mm plug, so I'm hoping to buy an extension cable (leave in the battery + run down the wall -> plug charger into that to charge), but I can't find one! Thoughts?

Lmfao I forgot about this one, with its "Sure, there was no evidence written in the Chinese documents he obtained from the WIV through his magic VPN, but it's actually a secret code only this white dude can read. He took Spanish in high school and Japanese in college, so he's an expert!"

But it was his career as a China specialist for the Rand Corporation and as a political officer in East Asia for the U.S. State Department that taught him how to interpret a notoriously opaque language: the “party speak” practiced by Chinese Communist officials.

Party speak is “its own lexicon,” explains Reid, now 44 years old. Even a native Mandarin speaker “can’t really follow it,” he says. “It’s not meant to be easily understood. It’s almost like a secret language of Chinese officialdom. When they’re talking about anything potentially embarrassing, they speak of it in innuendo and hushed tones, and there’s a certain acceptable way to allude to something.”

And the data disappeared from GISAID on 2023-03-10 (not 2023-03-07)

Mar 7 '23

The Huanan market metagenomic data disappear from GISAID after researchers begin analyzing them, increasing urgency and concern around access to the data.

And I think @eddieholmes.bsky.social's contact was on 2023-03-10 (not 2023-03-05)

Mar 5 '23

Eddie Holmes contacts a trusted Chinese scientist, who confirms that George Gao’s team had uploaded market data including SARS-CoV-2 positive and negative samples and says independent analysis is possible.

210

Niema Moshiri @niema.net · 27/06/2026

I think there are some minor errors (at least a few that I'm aware of). I think @flodebarre.eurosky.social alerted us of the GISAID FASTQs on 2023-03-09 (not 2023-03-04), which is the day folks started downloading them (I started in 2023-03-10)

Débarre identifies the new files as environmental samples from the Huanan market uploaded by Chinese CDC authors and alerts the Worobey/Andersen market-origin author group, which begins downloading roughly 500GB of data.

I'm curious about this photo from yesterday's neo-Nazi attack. The story is that the shooter stole his mom's car, so why does the gas can have the SS logo on it? Does it belong to her? I'm guessing he didn't buy the sticker and stick it on the gas can just for this www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...
