welcome to Steel City (still in construction) (name pending) (details subject to change). 37 fully overclocked refineries making iron ingots, caterium ingots, and concrete, to produce 30 motors and 28 heavy modular frames per minute.

A row of refinery chimneys can be seen above the wall.A view of the 37 refineries in a row, with the Pioneer sitting on top of the first one.A screenshot from Satisfactory, showing 12 water extractors, placed in two circles of 6, with pipes joining them pairwise in a shape somewhat reminiscent of a triskell.Another view of the city wall and the refineries, with the Pioneer posing on top of the wall.

having made it to phase 4 this weekend, i am happy to report that i am Back on my Bullshit
A screenshot from Satisfactory, showing a glass building at night in the centre of the frame, surrounded by other unlit buildings. Each floor is at a slightly different angle than the previous one, and each floor has pale blue lights highlighting its floor and ceiling.A screenshot from Satisfactory, showing a vertical view of a building from the inside, revealing a large open tower of machines across multiple floors, organised in a quasi-circular fashion, resulting in a very symmetrical picture.

i am rushing towards the endgame as fast as possible without taking the time to build elegantly (since IME you have to rebuild from scratch for a proper phase 5 anyway), so my base is currently a heap of beautiful spaghetti nonsense :)

welp, this ongoing wave doesn't show any sign of slowing down. :/
A screenshot from Ireland's most recent wastewater surveillance report. It shows a figure, and its label. The label reads "Figure 5: Weekly distribution of population-nomalized SARA-CoV-2 viral load (gc/day/person), National Wastewater Surveillance Programme, week 19 2021 to week 37 2026". The graph itself is a color-coded representation of that distribution over time. The most recent datapoints show a sharp spike up that doesn't seem to be slowing down.

A variation on the "sickos yes" meme, that usually portrays a man looking through a window, grinning, wearing a shirt that says "sickos", with a speech bubble that says "yes... ha ha ha... YES!". This version is identical, except for the fact that the person looking through the window is an animal girl (probably cat or fox, given the ears?).

stopping at 9 games was so hard... i tried to stick to one game per franchise and genre, and to only include games that permanently altered my brain chemistry in some way, but even then i am tempted to make a second page of honourable mentions.
A 3x3 grid of games in no particular order.
- Ocarina of Time
- Satisfactory
- Infinifactory
- Metroid Fusion
- The Message From Deep Space
- VVVVVV
- Final Fantasy VII
- Undertale
- Portal

new nails! tried to make a short video this time to show how they shimmer :) we used a layer of black polish, a layer of sparkling blue polish, some blue foil for contrast (see my thumb), and then a layer of light blue magnetic cat's eye polish

- no, it never does, i mean, those people somehow delude themselves into thinking it might, but...
- ...but it might work for us.

ok, our newly added end-to-end tests work on CI! it was a bit of a hassle, as there's no ubuntu package for npiet, meaning that we now need to build npiet from source in the CI... but at least it works!
A code snippet from the CI config; it's a YAML snippet that reads:

steps:
  - name: Download npiet
    uses: actions/checkout@v6
    with:
      repository: gleitz/npiet
      path: npiet
  - name: Install npiet
    run: |
      cd npiet

      ./configure
      make
      sudo make install

i mean i don't know shit about theory either :D Barbie types are the ones where you do something similar to your approach, but the type argument is a functor, like so:
a Haskell snippet, that reads

data Fields (f :: Type -> Type) = Fields
  { _thagomizerLevel :: f Int
  , _fizzBuzziness   :: f Double
  }

type PartialFields   = Fields Maybe
type AnnotatedFields = Fields WithSource
type ResolvedFields  = Fields Identity

also, here's the debug view of the IR for said program. this is what the pseudo-rust code gets reduced to before code generation happens. next step: writing an export of it to LLVM's IR, and target LLVM as an alternate backend!
A DOT graph representation of the flow of the program. Each block of instructions is represented as a node in the graph, and they are clustered together by function.

OUR FIRST PIÈTRE PROGRAM! \o/ it's taken a while, and there's still a lot more to do, but it's starting to work! :)
A screenshot of a program in pseudo-Rust, that reads as follows.

fn main() {
    write_int(fibo(read_int()));
    write_char('\n');
}

fn fibo(n: int) -> int {
    if n == 0 {
        return 0;
    }
    if n == 1 {
        return 1;
    }
    let prev = 0;
    let current = 1;
    while n > 1 {
        let tmp = current;
        current += prev;
        prev = tmp;
        n -= 1;
    }
    return current;
}A big Piet program: it looks like a bunch of columns of random colors on a white background to the untrained eye.

made a very trivial dependency analyzer to visualize the dependency graph of groups of modules in my project, which revealed that "Internals" and "batteries" are not as isolated as i thought; it might be worth cleaning at some point. (code is here, but it's rough: github.com/nicuveo/depdot)
A Dot graph. Within a "Lang" cluster, several nodes: Pietre.Pipeline, Pietre.Export, Pietre.Stages, Pietre.Batteries, Pietre.Internal, and Pietre.Representations. They mostly form a directed acyclic graph, except for two bidirectional edges, represented in red, between Pietre.Representations and both Pietre.Batteries and Pietre.Internal.

A DOT graph, describing the IR of a very small program.

A picture of a river, taken from a bridge. It is flanked on both sides by trees, all different, all a different shade of green. A bird nest is visible in the branch of one of the trees. The sky shines blue. The river goes down a short step in the foreground, foaming a bit.A picture of the sea, cliffs lit by the sun, and an almost cloudless blue sky. on today's stream: we finally got to the point where we could do some very rudimentary tests! here's a trivial program, and the resulting image! no `print` yet so the result was verified by looking at the interpreter's memory. :D
A small piece of code, with syntax highlighting. It reads:

fn main() {
  fibo(5);
}

fn fibo(x: int) -> int {
  if x > 1 {
    return fibo(x-1) + fibo(x-2);
  } else {
    return 1;
  }
}
 A large image that, at first glance, doesn't seem to make a lot of sense: it's just bright colors organized in columns over a white background. It is, in fact, a Piet program.

interestingly, while looking for the original, i found several plagiarized versions that are just a tiny bit off, like those three. i don't believe they are AI, but they very likely contributed to feeding the model that generated the shitty one microsoft published.
a plagiarized version of the start in the previous post: it has the same column, the same time arrow going down, almost the exact same comments; it just has a few mistakes: some arrows are missing, and all the tags are the same (they all read "Tag 0.1").Yet another plagiarized diagram from the previous post. This one has the exact same columns and the exact same commit pattern, but the comments are gone.Yet yet again, a plagiarized version of the diagram in the previous post. Comments are gone, there are a few more tags and a few more commits, and the Time arrow is missing, but the pattern is unmistakably the same.

i am so familiar with the original image that it plagiarized, that at a first glance i just recognised the original and didn't see the issue... and then i actually looked at it... (here's the original, for reference, from nvie.com/posts/a-succ... AFAICT)
a graph proposing a workflow for working with git. a big arrow labelled Time goes from top to bottom. commits are sorted on 6 different columns, two of them labelled "feature branches", one labelled "develop", then one labelled "released branches", one labelled "hotfixes", and finally one named "master". speech bubble add comments to illustrate the workflow, like how feature branches and hotfixes are always merged back into develop, and his commits to master are only merges from a release branch or a hotfix branch.

well, see, the issue can be triggered when a user clicks a markdown link, which is, by itself, a valid reason to involve the network. ...but it doesn't explain how they fucked up "opening a URI", or why notepad needs markdown rendering now
A screenshot from a Microsoft site about the discussed CVE, showing two questions in a FAQ. The screenshot reads:

How could an attacker exploit this vulnerability?
An attacker could trick a user into clicking a malicious link inside a Markdown file opened in Notepad, causing the application to launch unverified protocols that load and execute remote files.

According to the CVSsS metric, the attack vector is network (AV:N) and user interaction is required (UI:R). What is the target context of the remote code execution?
The malicious code would execute in the security context of the user who opened the Markdown file, giving the attacker the same permissions as that user.
