Thing to add to the "I somehow did that" list: Performed Harp 2 on Dance of the Seven Veils from Salome with only two runthroughs of the piece during dress rehearsal Orchestral harpists, you know. Harp 2 is definitely easier than Harp 1 though 😅

Catching up on the FFXIV Fanfest news: CG Reaper is sweeeet Gunshields!! XD Elemental-based skyships as our zones is going to be really cool to explore Norse vibes? Norse vibes. Am honestly weirded out by the FF7 crossover for the 8-man Also, hubby and I are going back to our pre-DT jobs for 8.0

I'm only slightly annoyed to have to pull out Berlioz again. Slightly. I am drowning in sheet music y'all

I think I've started hitting the point in my career where my hands remember more of the music I've played then my brain has "Okay new part, pedals are in, let's play through this" *plays one measure* "...... I've played this before. Which means I already have a marked up part for this." 😐

*sighing in Wagner* Also I think playing a Britten opera earlier this year gave me mild ptsd Hubby: "Can you maybe practice something that DOESN'T give me an anxiety attack?"

I'm very late on sharing this and really need to be on socials more 😭But I'm so happy that we finished this and love what we created, it took quite a while but all the changes and additions we made in the process really brought this cover to life in a beautiful way 💗 Thank you Pernelle!!

Getting a lot of nostalgia boosts rn XD KH4, Oot, single-player Brave Exvius remake in 2D-3D (Resonance)? Eeeeeeeeeee (thinking I should finally do that Brave Exvius cover I've been thinking of for years)

#1 reason I wash makeup off when I get home from gigs: So my very impatient cat who desperately wants to groom my face can safely groom my face Also my cheek feels very exfoliated now

Weird thought that would be super cool to somehow organize one day: Performing Austin Wintory's "Their Waters Were Mingled Together" from Abzu, live, with full 7 harp ensemble I know enough harpists locally...

Hey y'all Something I've really struggled with is finding the time to make music for myself when I work full-time as a musician/arranger. The only thing I have is to schedule time to focus on it and protect that pocket of time... Do you have any tips for making it work for you?

I can now say that not only have I played two operas... ... but I finished playing all four shows of the second opera while sick XD (masked and drinking water basically every other recit) I went through so much Tylenol Gonna finally get some rest now

Me continuing to go through older rep and also continuing to go, in much frustration, "WHY WAS MY YOUNGER SELF SUCH A DUM DUM" (context, am bringing back the Debussy trio, which I last performed *before* going for a music degree)

Nicole Chang @nicolewtchang.bsky.social · 17/01/2026

Younger me, your future, professional self honestly wonders how you functioned as a musician (aka I'm revisiting rep from when I was early in music school for an upcoming recital and I'm flabbergasted at my lack of markings and bad muscle memory habits is trying to push me back to)

Fun fact: I've wanted to learn electric bass since I was like 13. Do I have time? No Do I have income and cables+amp? Yes Am I getting younger? No ... so anyway this might become a personal project after holiday season

Practicing Tournier bc I'm performing it next week 🙌 I love this piece and also I've missed properly working on classical stuff XD (it's been a long summer haha) (Piece is Tournier Sonatine Op. 30)

Of all the places I could've stashed a tuning key while moving, a knitting project bag with an inactive project in it was not on my radar

030

Nicole Chang @nicolewtchang.bsky.social · 25/08/2025

YouTube has really decided to throw all the nostalgia at me XD On that note, I should really rewatch Gundam Wing from an adult perspective ... really this applies to a lot of older anime though

020

Nicole Chang @nicolewtchang.bsky.social · 21/08/2025

Plus sides of moving: new space, able to better personalize and set up for storage/recording/living, don't have to tiptoe around housemate's schedule, also quiet and super walkable Downsides: Moving all our stuff XD

Nicole Chang @nicolewtchang.bsky.social · 01/08/2025

It's a crazy crazy time! So here's some of what I've been up to this summer XD

Me playing through an arrangement of Libertango for fun and realizing I could totally add this to my setlist if I work on it a bit :D Which is super fun bc :D

Nicole Chang @nicolewtchang.bsky.social · 10/06/2025

I feel like I've been recruited into mildly strange circumstances of playing Mahler 2, but... here we are XD It's been awesome catching up with people I haven't seen since pre-COVID though!

010

Nicole Chang @nicolewtchang.bsky.social · 06/06/2025

Just posting multiple pics bc it's been a while and... life is busy XD

Due to the Twitch storage rule change and an impending deadline, I sat down and... cleared up everything in the "Highlights" section (which I'd used to hold onto old VODs). Did back up some playthroughs though. TBH, I think my Twitch streaming days are over; may consider Youtube if I stream again

I didn't share this here yet! So I finally finished knitting this shawl over the weekend XD Not blocked yet and has many ends to weave in, but it took me 4 months and I'm very pleased with it :)

A hand-knitted blue-grey shawl, with sections of lace and cables

Huge congratulations to Mark and Mathieu for their work on the soundtrack for Empire of the Ants!! It's a gorgeous, gorgeous soundtrack, I highly recommend a listen!! (I might be slightly biased as I had the opportunity to record for this :D) But seriously, I'm so happy 🤩 Congratulations!! 🎉🎉

So uh... for anyone who doesn't know Elder Scrolls is one of the series that I am very, very into If I hadn't made FFXIV my main MMO, it would've been ESO (I also may have 2500+ plugins in my current Skyrim modded setup) So there is a LOT of excitement for me right now

The chills when Patrick Stewart's voice with modern HD Uriel Septim with the Oblivion music

100

Nicole Chang @nicolewtchang.bsky.social · 21/04/2025

Random thoughts on the Oblivion remaster: Oblivion was my intro to the Elder Scrolls Series (I got into it the year before Skyrim released), and tbh - I'm excited! I'm curious to see what's done! ... but also Skyblivion? ... Martin Septim all over again 😭

I finally have a pedal harp pickup! :D (Which I will install and test when I don't have to leave for a gig in 2.5 hrs XD)

030

Nicole Chang @nicolewtchang.bsky.social · 24/03/2025

Me, going over the score+music in prep for dress rehearsal, and and spying "gliss with a wire brush" in the directions Me, slight panic for a moment bc I do not own wire brushes Me, looking at a live performance video and seeing the harpist doing fingernail glisses instead *phew*

Nicole Chang @nicolewtchang.bsky.social · 18/03/2025

First, I'm going to apologize bc coming back to Stardew Valley (which kept me going through recital prep during grad school) took over my weekend... ehe x.x But, I'm now very amped up for arranging, so assuming I can balance gig prep, there may be some fun stuff soonish :D

020

Nicole Chang @nicolewtchang.bsky.social · 13/03/2025

Before and after I did some edits... Playing this in two weeks XD (thanks Dukas)

Harp music, with pedal markings by the composer that literally do not exist on the harp.

Harp music, with all the composer-placed pedal markings scribbled out and new pedal markings by an actual harpist written in
