I didn't have agreeing with Doug Ford on my 2026 bingo card, but here we are. I especially enjoy that he clarified his use of the word "buddy" which in this context of the Canadian vernacular doesn't mean friend. It means "loser"

Welcoming comments from paramedics, first responders, EMTs etc. This is my experience with paramedics. There is a difference between acting with urgency in the best interests of the patient, and rushing.

The entire ride and all transfers have to be smooth, this includes acceleration and deceleration. The ambulance will run silent (lights only) because the siren is loud and the last thing they want to do is startle the patient.

You make patient transfers smooth by not rushing, and being deliberate with your actions. I know this because when my dad went into heart failure, a paramedic friend talked me down from the ceiling when my mom (following in their car) got to the hospital before the ambulance.

If McConnell had a heart attack, received CPR and AED treatment, and they managed to get a heartbeat back, they will not rush to get him out to the ambulance. The transfer has to be SMOOTH because any jostling could cause him to lose his heartbeat again.

People magazine published an article saying there was "no urgency" in removing Mitch McConnell from his house, so all hope (that he lives) must be lost. Presumably, it meant there was no rushing in the paramedics' actions. There is a difference between urgent and rushing.

Ok, here goes. :steels self for pushback: I'm not a paramedic or EMT, but I received a lot of training from them as a lifeguard over more than 20 years. And I'm telling you: Paramedics do not rush when transporting patients from their place of injury to the ambulance, and in the ambulance.
