🧠 A study found that people told they slept poorly performed worse on cognitive tests even when they hadn't. Those told they slept well performed better, regardless of actual sleep quality. Sometimes your belief about your sleep matters almost as much as your sleep itself.

Parkinson’s Drug Restores Memory in Alzheimer’s Study 🧠 Researchers found dopamine collapse in a key memory region of the brain may drive Alzheimer’s-related memory loss. Using L-DOPA, scientists restored neural activity and reversed memory deficits in animal models

ALS may affect far more than movement 🧠 A new imaging study found white matter changes not only in motor pathways, but also in circuits tied to reward, behavior, and appetite. Adding to growing evidence that ALS is a multisystem neurodegenerative disease.

Why does the heart almost never develop cancer? A new study in Science suggests the constant mechanical force of each heartbeat suppresses tumor growth by altering chromatin and gene expression through Nesprin-2. Motion itself may be a natural defense against cancer.

T cells are built to detect and destroy cancer cells with surgical precision—recognition, lock-on, and apoptosis. But tumors evolve ways to evade them. Modern immunotherapy is about tipping that balance back.

A fruit fly brain, mapped in full. 🧠 What looks like abstract art is a complete network of neural wiring and vasculature. Because it’s so small, scientists can trace nearly every connection, linking circuits directly to behavior and uncovering rules that scale to human brains.

Not all TMS is the same. Studies show standard targeting can miss by >1 cm, and optimized placement can differ by ~14 mm. Small changes = different circuits. Same protocol, different dose. In any other field, that’s a dosing problem.

Stroke doesn’t just damage the brain, it may reshape it. A new study finds the injured hemisphere can appear biologically “older,” while regions in the opposite hemisphere look “younger.” A possible sign the brain is reorganizing to compensate for lost function. 🧠

Glutamatergic neurons are the brain’s primary drivers of excitation, fueling learning, memory, and cognition through synaptic plasticity. When disrupted, they’re linked to depression, schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s, and epilepsy. Understanding them = understanding how the brain adapts.
