This is my last week in Switzerland. After 18 years in Japan and Switzerland, I will start a new chapter back in Indonesia.

🫵 Boss asked me to watch YT vid about making websites look and feel premium, and to apply it to our website. 👨‍💻 Me less than 7 hours later: "Here you go" Cursor really makes me productive.🤯

Interesting, it's possible to have a different "display name" in Finder instead of the actual file name.

VS Code/Cursor = Editor with built-in Terminal. Warp = Terminal with built-in Editor. They're converging.

How much do you need to pay the government for radio and tv which you don't use? It's 335 francs per year in Switzerland. 😮‍💨

"Today we announce ..." When is "today"? No date at all in the blog post. No date either in the URL. 😮‍💨

Why are Desktop and Documents hidden in Tahoe??
A screenshot of a file directory on a computer, showing the sidebar with various folders. The "Downloads" folder is highlighted in blue, while other folders like "Applications," "Calibre Library," "Desktop," "Documents," "Library," and "Movies" are also visible.

I don't believe you.
A message displayed in a clear font, addressing the recipient as "Hi" and acknowledging them as a top contributor on GitHub in Switzerland. The text mentions a search for open source contributors and includes a link to a GitHub repository (https://github.com/adenhq/hive). The link is highlighted in pink.

I'm updating Prisma on multiple websites from v6 to v7. But instead of directly changing the version, I duplicated and updated the packages that use Prisma. This way, I can update the app one by one to make sure nothing breaks.
A screenshot of a code editor displaying a file structure in a project. The sidebar shows directories under "node_modules" and "packages," with several nested items including "database," "emails," "env," "ui," and others. Specific entries highlighted include "database-v7-utils" and "voucher-v7," indicating various modules and utilities related to database operations and vouchers. The overall theme is dark mode.

Really, LinkedIn? I don't believe you.
A message in a light blue chat window indicates that the user has one of the most-viewed profiles. It suggests adding verification to boost trust. A circular profile picture of a person is displayed next to the message.

Got a spike traffic anomaly on our company's website. I thought wow was it because of the LinkedIn post? But then I checked there was no spike in the LinkedIn analytics. Turned out it's our CI 🤦‍♂️

Another feature of this Onyx Boox Go 10.3 that makes me enjoy the reading experience is being able to write/type notes on the side.
Onyx Boox Go 10.3 e-reader and the pen to write on. The screen shows a split view. On the left is a page with a title that says The Time Wealth guide. On the right is the handwritten note.

This small little feature in a book reader really helps me enjoy the reading experience.
An e-reader with small text at the bottom of the book that says “This chapter (11/16)”

Why is Google Search Console sending me junk? It said there's a new owner but there are no other users??

Love this Boox Go 10.3 🤩 was thinking of getting Remarkable. But it’s too expensive and it doesn’t run Android so no Playstore.

Is it just me who cannot stand reading a web page this wide? My eyes move too much from side to side 😵‍💫
The image features a webpage titled "Workwise • supercookie" with an introduction emphasizing the importance of data collection in modern web browsing. It discusses the evolution of data collection practices since the launch of the World Wide Web, including concepts like device fingerprinting and how browsers can identify unique users. The background section highlights the role of favicons in defining a website's identity. The text is set against a dark background decorated with subtle icons related to technology and the internet.

Congrats to New Yorkers but what the fuck is wrong with the billionaires. 26 of them and they only spent measly $22 million?!?! With 26 billionaires I kinda expect at LEAST they’d spend half billions on preventing something that obviously they don’t want to happen. Cheapskates!😂

Apparently useReducer is fine. Lol what the fuck. Is this ESLint bugs or what.

I thought it's because Date() always returns different value every time the effect is run so that's why the linter complains. But this ok?? 😂
100
Nico @nico.fyi · 04/11/2025
It's getting more confusing. This caused linter error?????
100
Nico @nico.fyi · 04/11/2025
Can someone explain to me why the first code triggers linter error but the second not? I assume it's because obj.asiaTime in deps array caused the effect to be run more frequently?🤔

When Cursor's model is drunk. Suddenly (probably) chinese character.
A screenshot of code in an integrated development environment (IDE) showing TypeScript or JavaScript. The code includes comments and variables related to finding the next question's first view time. It highlights conditions checking the indices of replies and questions, as well as initializing variables like `nextQuestionViewTime`. The code is formatted with syntax highlighting, differentiating between comments and code elements.

I don't get why this is so expensive 😵‍💫
A tall, natural wood ladder with five rungs. A beige towel is draped over the third rung. The background is plain and light-colored, enhancing the minimalist aesthetic. On the right, there's a product description box indicating the item is from La Redoute, along with pricing information.

Hmmmmm @netlify.com secret scanning is kinda weird. When I built locally, the secret variable is not in the build output. I grep it. But in Netlify, it's detected in a bunch of files?? Like even in the binary node file????

Whenever a coworker asked for help with the problem on their Windows laptop.
A young man with short, light brown hair stands in front of a trailer with the word "Sam" visible on it. He is wearing a striped polo shirt in shades of pink, white, and blue. Text overlaid on the image reads, "YOU GUYS STILL USING WINDOWS?!".

Someone took an early start for Christmas 😂
A digital music app interface displaying a "Home" section. On the left, there is a prominently featured new release titled "Christmas Time (Special Edition)" by Michael Bolton, dated 17 October. The album cover features a black-and-white image of a smiling Bolton against a light background with festive illustrations. On the right, there's a section labeled "Made for You" showcasing "Nico's Station" with a vibrant graphic displaying pink and orange geometric shapes.

Really hate this kind of response from @vercel.com support team. 1. Trying to gaslight me even though I already mentioned that it worked fine in Preview deployment and **REDEPLOYMENT** in production always fixed it. 2. Doesn't even acknowledge that something's wrong with their product.
000
Nico @nico.fyi · 07/10/2025
Another annoying thing about Vercel. "Create case" in the support page doesn't actually create a case. I need to chat with a useless AI bot first before creating a case. Seriously, it's completely useless. It never solved my problems.
A screenshot of a support interface, featuring tabs labeled "Agent," "Support," and "Settings" at the top. Below, there’s a prominent "Create Case" button on the right. The section below lists options for filtering tickets: "All," "Open," "Transferred," and "Closed," with sorting options available. The overall layout is clean with a minimalistic design.

How did this happen? I had 1TB 😭
A screen displaying storage information for a computer, showing "Macintosh HD" as the storage name. It indicates that 127.01 GB is available out of a total capacity of 994.66 GB. There is a button labeled "Storage Settings..." at the bottom right.

Nico @nico.fyi · 02/10/2025
you're right! Thanks, now it clicks for me 🥳 Though I don't know why the linter still complains even though i use the latest plugin. Maybe i messed up some setup.

Nico @nico.fyi · 02/10/2025
So it's basically like this but thanks to useEffectEvent, the linter will not complain anymore.

I understand that choosing the right tool for the right job is important. But saying devs who use React don't ship value is nonsense. Then the irony. First, accuse React devs of not delivering values. But then recommend devs to do things that don't deliver value when starting a project 🤷‍♂️
