Cover berries with water Simmer 30 minutes Strain, add 1lb sugar and a dozen cloves per pint of juice. Boil 10 minutes, strain and pour into sterilised bottles. Will keep in the fridge for months or can be frozen. Dilute in hot water to taste. 110

Overall this year I've seen a lot less orange tips, a lot more speckled woods, commas more regularly and, although not butterflies, humming bird hawk moths seem to be on the increase here too, fabulous wee creatures! Usually it's the orange tips that arrive first but so far I've seen several peacocks, a comma and a couple of speckled wood. Saw my first orange tip yesterday. 🦋🐝 020
