My Odyssey hot take is that the costumes are fine, actually, I liked them. Nothing special but certainly not bad. Movie good, I had great time with movie. I'd like to see more of that version of mythic Greece. The pacing in the first third was kinda dogshit though, points deducted for that.

Our Stats, Health, and Luck may look pretty bad, but we have pluck and panache on our side, and the nice part about the dungeon game system (which a Heist Game is based on) means that failing stat checks is a chance to improve our stats, we'll catch up in no time!

Finally, no self-respecting Criminal is without a shed-load of debt. In our case, 10,000 silver pieces of debt. Could be worse, a lot worse. They'll expect a cut of each Heist we go on, and Arriena only accepts cash herself, but what can we do.

Thieves also start with a Conviction (step 6), which help you proactively use your luck (the more you have, the luckier you must be to still be alive!), in our case its "Distribution of Illicit Substances". Take that how you will. We also get a useful Contact for Step 7, in this case Durden Quigley!

Step 4: we get 2 Knacks, which give us advantage on related tasks. Rolling gives us Pick Locks and Forgery, probably pretty handy for our little weed of a boy. Onto Step 5: roll a Background! Out of the 60 available, we've got... Ex-Cardsharp, I think our history somewhat speaks for itself now.

No one can stop me, here's the run through of character creation in A Heist Game in 8 handy steps. Let's get the easy stuff out the way. Steps 1 and 2: roll 3D6 for our stats: Agility, Brawn, Cunning, and then 1D6 for Health. In this example, we've got 13 Agility, 10 Brawn, 5 Cunning, and 2 Health.

I think good Heist/Crime rpgs are underserved. The Cartel and Blades in the Dark are good, but they do a different vibe. In A Heist Game, planning is key and careful play will save your life... usually. There's also an ash version if you just want a taste... nick56730.itch.io/a-heist-game...
