A burning question we posed on the cover of @sfxmagazine.bsky.social 30 years ago this month (if you're still waiting for the answer, faithful reader, it was "Yes, just about...").

Is there truly any part of Doctor Who history too mundane to be recorded? If you've ever wondered what the press snacks looked like during SFX's location visit to The Zygon Invasion, well, I don't believe you. But here they are, nevertheless.

So sad to hear of the passing of Anthony Head. Always so supportive of the magazine and, living in Bath, a frequent visitor to the @sfxmagazine.bsky.social office and photo studio. Fabulous actor and a charming, approachable man who wore his fame lightly.

A treat to hear @samiraahmeduk.bsky.social talk about A Hard Day's Night and all matters Fab today. A thoroughly fascinating, entertaining Q&A as part of the Bath Literature Festival. Her BFI book on the movie comes highly recommended by this Beatlemaniac.

Doing some research into Close Encounters of the Third Kind and just unearthed a Spielberg interview from a 1978 issue of Cinefantastique. Fascinating that he seemed absolutely committed to a sequel at that point…

45 years ago today the Fourth Doctor gave way to the Fifth. I remember reading in the paper that morning that Tom Baker would simply vanish, which killed any excitement I had for a glimpse of the new guy. So imagine the sheer thrill of seeing Mr Davison’s face in the closing moments after all…

RIP Terence Stamp. I can heartily recommend Double Feature, one of the most beautifully written and least self-serving memoirs I’ve ever read. “I was on such an ego trip it took a while to realise the Sixties weren’t only happening to me.”

Happy 50th, Jaws, you perfect apex predator of a movie. I remember the buzz of holding this original clapperboard from the filming. It went on to sell for £70,000, which is why I'm wearing gloves - wouldn't want to devalue it with my DNA, now would we? I've got city hands, as Quint would say...
