Very glad to get an up-close view of one of our City’s Education programs, Circle City Readers, which hires tutors to assist at-need K-3 students to improve their literacy rates for that crucial age range! A great assistance for many school districts, including Warren Township, where we were!

Thanks to Geist Harbours POA for inviting me to speak at their Annual Meeting last night! Great to talk about work we are doing on a number of topics, including roads, safety and snow plowing. It’s always wonderful to be back at my “Alma Mater” at Amy Beverland Elementary!

First Council meeting of the year last night! For the last few months in addition to other topics, we‘ve been working to finalize contract negotiations for our Police Union, Sheriff’s Deputies and DPW employees, among others. All of these hardworking employees deserve pay raises!

Was very happy to facilitate a meeting between the Sargent Road Association and our DPW to give an update on the detailed design plan for Sargent Road reconstruction, which remains my #1 priority! Thanks to all who’ve been working with us on this all year?

It is often said that Indy/Indiana are the Crossroads of America, but are we? Given the completion of I-69 in Indy, Indy is now tied for having the most Interstate Routes among US Metro Areas with another one of our neighbors - Chicago - who also extends into Indiana.

A big thanks to the MSD of Lawrence Township for hosting State+City Legislators at our McKenzie Career Center to go over the great work happening for our community within LT Schools. McKenzie, in particular, is a fantastic resource for our students to take advantage of career-ready programs. Go LT!

A great breakfast this morning to honor two of our city’s most outstanding community members - Tamika Catchings and Jeff Smulyan - with the Annual Charles L Whistler Award from the Greater Indy Progress Committee! Tamika and Jeff have both done so much to make our city a better place. Well deserved!

Yesterday was a very impactful day! I was fortunate to be at the City’s Press Conference to announce that we are expanding our Clinician-Lead Response Team, who are directly trained to handle mental health cases and their service area will now include the Northside. www.wthr.com/article/news...

Always great to spend time with the Sargent Road Association! The SRA has done excellent work in our area for many years, but it is especially a point of pride to celebrate this year given the new Sargent Road Nature Park right in our backyard!

The Big 10 Championship! No city hosts events like Indy. Looking forward to watching two great, classic Midwestern Big 10 Teams (Penn State and Oregon 🫠) square off tonight! Kudos to Indiana Sports Corp, Visit Indy and many other stakeholders for another great event for our city!

As many of you may have heard, each Councilor for the first time was recently tasked with spending $1 Million Dollars within our Districts. Based on constituent requests for street improvements, I have chosen to spend District 4’s Million on repaving our streets! www.ibj.com/articles/ind...

Indy councilors each have a $1M allocation to make improvements in their districts - Indianapolis Business Journal

Allowing each councilor to choose an improvement project is part of an initiative by Mayor Joe Hogsett’s administration to invest in roads, parks and dangerous intersections throughout Marion County.

A busy week of Council meetings almost every day! A lot of important work to do for our city, including work on building our downtown, improving our roads and strengthening our finances.
