You don’t want to live in a country where the president can just break the law whenever he feels like it. Your real beef is with the Congressional appropriators who tie the president’s hands by putting that earmark into the law every year.

The “giving weapons” was better characterized as “followed the law”, as the president is legally required to fulfill that earmark. I know we’ve become numb to a president who breaks the law but it’s actually the norm for laws to be followed by the White House.

Should he have voted if he lived in Ohio? What about Pennsylvania? Is it only a matter of time before people argue “well, PA wasn’t decided by 1 vote so Tom had no reason to vote anyway”. If you oppose a party coming to power, you vote to stop it, regardless of the particular locality you live in.

Related note, I always thought it was peak Boomer to go over the items on a restaurant bill rather than just hand them the card because “unlikely they got it wrong”, but I went to dinner with my aunt and uncle and there were multiple things wrong.
