It’ll take Meta about 13 hours to make back that revenue in New Mexico. And about 4 and a half minutes to make back the fine in Los Angeles. (Google owes about 19 seconds worth of revenue.) These fines are in no way punitive.

RIP to the car that was never going to come to market anyway. Gonna leave a big Sony-sized hole at CES though. www.engadget.com/transportati...

Thank you, Amazon, for the product safety alert for the grill brus I bought more than a decade ago. … That was a close call.

Switched to Carrd for ye olde family landing pages. Ghost was awesome — and I still definitely recommend it if you’re gonna #blogblogblog. But it’s way more than I need. Carrd was super easy and you can’t beat $19 a year.

Even Apple’s almost-certainly offshored support chat has just about had it.

I have a 2019 Intel MacBook Pro. It's old. Runs old. I had an LLM look at a couple crash reports and make suggetions, and it now has a second lease on life. ... My question is why doesn't an operating system do this itself.

This used to be one of my favorite devices at home. … Guess it’s time to finally get rid of it.
A Logitech universal remote covered with a number of years worth of dust.

Interesting to see this on YouTube TV now and not just YouTube proper. (Not seen is the button trying to get me to unpause.)

On this, one of the six days of the year in which I have legit time to veg out and play video games, I very much miss the simplicity of Google Stadia.

Tell me you don't know what "bypass" means without telling me you know what "bypass" means. If you're looking at something that's already been decrypted, then you're not bypassing anything. (And the reblogs are even worse.) www.threatfabric.com/blogs/sturnu...

More fun with vibe coding. A ridiculously long, multi-file response for what should have been a five-line change in code. It’s hard to believe it’s not doing this in purpose. But on the other hand I could see it trying to be overly helpful. I still have a better context window.

I regret to inform you that multi-billion-dollar AI tools can still be pretty dumb.

Really kinda interesting to see Apple use the registration mark in its headline for the F1 deal. Damned near unprecedented, if not the first time.

More fun with vibe coding. Took the precipitation scraper from my email weatherbot project and am using it to trigger skips for my sprinkler system instead of the built-in setting, which was turning my grass brown while also trying to upsell me.

That awkward moment when the AI with billions of dollars behind it tells you to delete the file that it literally just had you add something to. THE FUTURE!!!!! (I’m no coder, but I’m also not this dumb. Usually.)

I think I've decided vibe coding is not a crime. Put together a fun little project for the youth soccer league I help with. Automatically generated weather-info emails for game days, with logic for time of day and NEXRAD storm predictions.
A sample email of a game-day weather notification for a soccer league.

Doesn’t everybody set up a separate Pi-hole on their secondary DNS right as they’re going to sleep on a Saturday night just to see how much escapes the primary? No? Just me? Good times.

Big week in ad-blocking as Pi-hole finally release v6. And the excellent Pihole Remote app on iOS. Just updated, too. And went freemium. Easiest $10 I’ve spent. pi-hole.net/blog/2025/02/18/introdu… apps.apple.com/us/app/pi-hole-remot…
