Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 11/10/2026Road near Walkmills #Shropshire was closed this morning and couldn't even get my bicycle through. Had an off road adventure on an assault course with mud, brambles, locked gates on right of way and this excellent double stile. @lakesstiles.bsky.social 160
Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Your gig in Shrewsbury last weekend was very good, thank you. Highly recommended! 120
Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 08/10/2026This is good but it really should have EV charging rates and price per kWh too (for car parks, at the roadside, etc. as well as filling stations). Is that being looked at? Of course another way to reduce fuel (+ parking) costs is to walk or cycle those shorter journeys, or use the capped bus fare. 000
Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Voting should be a civic responsibility. Mandatory in Australia for ~100 yrs with 90% turnout. Valid reasons for not voting (e.g. illness) should be accepted and penalties need only be very small fines. Worth having a "none of the above" option as choosing not to speak is an element of free speech. 000
Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Am no fan of Reform, quite the opposite, but would be good to see comparable stats for the other parties. 51 certainly seems like alot but is it way out of line with what usually happens anyway? I suspect it is but the message is much stronger if that is confirmed. 241
Reposted by Nick HickmanEmma Monk @monkemma.bsky.social · 25/09/2026🧵 As front-page headlines go, this has to be one of the most misleading I've seen in a long time It's an out-and-out lie But notice the trick they use to get away with it...👀 *They're* not lying - they're just quoting someone else who is👍🏻 In this case, the leader of the opposition🙄 1/33 321036552
Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 19/09/2026I don't often charge away from home in UK but have always managed to just use credit card. Not sure if that is typical though. Suspect it might be bit cheaper if I have an account and app for each charging supplier but prefer to keep my inside leg measurement private. 011
Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 15/09/2026and too often the coverage would be positioned as "vehicle mows down", or "hit by a car". They'll be sending driverless cars to jail soon I expect. 000
Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 13/09/2026Possibly the ones that don't bother to vote are even dumber. Or "dummer" as POTUS might say? 1301
Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Can't afford the full £36million but have chipped in a few quid to a less fascist party instead. 000
Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Nobody should have enough wealth to be able to donate these huge sums to ANY political party. They are massively more than vast majority of people will earn or spend in a lifetime. 091

Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 09/09/2026Thanks for reposting that. Cover of Clampdown was very good and Streets of Minneapolis is powerful and moving. 110
Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 09/09/2026Legitimate cricketing concerns reported today over protesters at the hotel where the U19 Pakistan team were staying. Reform Councillor said, "It’s not because the protestors and crowds are bad people. Local residents just want to protect the city they love in the best way they know how.” 000
Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 08/09/2026Superb! It's a pity the varieties generally available here are so limited. Chosen for shelf life and ease of transport rather than taste I suspect. 010
Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 06/09/2026Our earlies were good with spring rain but mains were worst ever too. Second crop planted in July seem to be doing well with all the wet now so should be able to dig some for Christmas dinner. 110

Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 05/09/2026Also used by me, my bros, friends and many others for sledging in the snow late 1970s. Maiden Castle was also good for that of course but a hard hike to get there pulling a sledge. 120
Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 05/09/2026Will the Reform Youth be expected to sing, "Engerland, Engerland über alles"? 010

Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 29/08/2026Lovely sunrise over Caer Caradoc #Shropshire at six o'clock this morning. Grey and rainy by the time I got out with Monty Dog. Everything is starting to green up a bit after the weeks of dry heat though. 020
Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 28/08/2026Kiwi colleague was telling us about her time working on a big yacht, where she had enjoyed being a "dick hand". 120
Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 28/08/2026Read the text and thought I know who this will be referring to. Scrolled down to the image and I wasn't wrong. 000
Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 27/08/2026"Pissed as a fart" is another common one, meaning very drunk, but makes no sense really. I always got confused when US colleagues said they were "pissed", meaning angry rather than than drunk. 010
Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 25/08/2026Read that as "america fails" at first glance, and that seemed about right. 030
Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 25/08/2026We knew our weekly free newspaper as the "Fascist on Sunday" even twenty years ago. It closed down in 2017. The back page coverage of the local Championship Rugby team whose home matches we always attended was excellent but the rest was best avoided. 000

Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 20/08/2026Not the smartest hound though. Scoffed some fruit cake yesterday and I had to rush him to vet to get a jab to make him throw it all up as dried grapes are highly toxic and potentially lethal for dogs. He's right as rain today thankfully. 110

Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 04/08/2026I see there is a hefty North Sea levy already but suppose a significant proportion of Big Oil's profit in UK come from fuels imported from elsewhere. How might that be taxed I wonder. 000
Nick Hickman @nickhickman.bsky.social · 04/08/2026I think the exchequer will get a bit more VAT on increased price at the pump, but fuel duty is a fixed amount and not a percentage so no change there. Must be a good case for a windfall tax on Big Oil? 120
