The cowards running this province are sending out this doozy of a pamphlet on the referendum questions. For most, it advocates a strong position, but when it comes to the separation question, the government refuses to stand by its official stance we should remain in Canada.

I think if Shame got the same people who mixed their 2026 KEXP session to work on their next record, I'd like it a lot more than most of their discography.

The actual story here is that conservative parties are populated by enough conspiracy theorists that leadership caters to the dumbest ideas, and that conservatives have spent decades complaining about media bias. This leads to the CBC giving cranks a platform.

FIRST PERSON | I was pushed to be self-sufficient. I want Alberta to stand on its own, too | CBC News
As a young mom, Vicky Bayford was denied social assistance in an Alberta that valued small government and self-sufficiency. That experience shaped her view of the debate on separatism and her hopes for an independent Alberta.

This is probably just confirmation bias, but the thing I noticed about drivers that made me uncomfortable in places like Vancouver and Montreal is that they are fast and aggressive, whereas the bad drivers in Calgary seem more likely to be sloppy and inattentive.

I've been used to 64 GB of RAM on an Intel iMac and, with the current pricing nuttiness, I'm tempted to save $600 by speccing a Mac Studio with 48 GB. Do we think I'll regret this?

Is Data Centre Criticism Sustainable?

Albertans, here is a quick guide to the ten-question referendum: Question 1: do you want to somehow restrict movement within Canada? Questions 2–5: do you want more bureaucracy? Questions 6–9: do you want to shout at Ottawa? Question 10: do you want to do the dumbest possible thing we could do?

"Nevertheless." www.nytimes.com/2026/08/28/op...
NYT article: “As the history of the East India Company shows, there can come a point when a corporation stops being just a company and begins seizing for itself the powers and trappings typically associated with a nation-state. True, today’s tech giants don’t have standing armies, nor have they conquered territory. Nevertheless, like the East India Company, they are increasingly integrated with their country’s military and have swayed events on the battlefield, particularly in Ukraine.”

Neil Cybart, of all people, is mocking someone for doing a company's PR work for them and not trying to hide it.
A nested quote-tweet from Mark Gurman reads “The big takeaway here is that it looks, feels and acts nothing like an Apple product or anything the company is currently planning. OpenAl hasn't found any evidence they're violating trade secrets with this device, I'm told.”

Neil Cybart, who quoted it, writes “Flat out doing OpenAI’s PR work for them. Not even trying to hide it any longer.”
