Went on the most nature-loving of naturist rambles today in the early autumn sunshine, can't believe the colours... and the season has yet to really get underway.

Oh, that's not quite right. The film does show a wall painting that is BASED on Chaldon, but it's their own interpretation of it. Even Google Images confuses the two!

Weirdly the trailer shows a one-second shot of the amazing medieval wall painting at Chaldon church in Surrey. It's the ladder of salvation, showing the saved and the damned. This medieval historian feels compelled to go!

It contains what is either a lie or an astonishingly inept mistake for a senior political correspondent to make. "No longer are Reform comfortably leading in all the opinion polls". Reform are not leading comfortably in ANY opinion polls now. Last year it hit 35% in polling, but not any more.

Just bedding down on the shores of Arran, wild camping at the back of its lovely official nude beach Cleat's Shore. I don't reckon anyone else has visited since I last came in 2010 :-) And this Ailsa Craig thing in the distance... it is genuinely an extinct volcano... as in won't be erupting, yes?

Oh... and maybe St Eanswythe in Folkestone counts?

A smaller splash than he made... but the best tribute I could think of this evening at my lovely naturist club!

If you’ve seen the weather forecast for the start of summer tomorrow, just a little extra reminder :-) So much for the old saying about keeping your clouts on until the end of May 🤣

Somewhere in Kent. Don't you just hate those pointless rules? 😂

Non-work day for the last of April, was in Eden. And I mean literally, I had a dip in the river Eden in Surrey. Found a very strange and beautiful flower growing in the river, looks like a freesia but they don't grow in water. If anyone knows what it is, do tell!

More pics from my wanderings this weekend, fully immersed in all spring has to offer.

Weekend vibe... Found a viewpoint miles out of London to sit and reflect on work/life balance. April in England, don't spend it indoors.

Oh I've found another more recent one, and yes Green voters are at the opposite pole from Reform voters on this. Wonder why the two parties' voters are furthest apart on the US but closest together on Russia.

This is the best poll I could find on this question, and unfortunately omits the Green Party. But yes once again there's a big difference with Reform voters and other parties.

Fair enough... but it's possible to be against two different things. I mean, it only took me two seconds to find this on YouGov. There's no framing that 'only Russia is bad' just as there's no framing that 'only Israel is bad'. Just two separate questions surely?

Archbishop Desmond Tutu explained the concept of being "neutral" in the face of oppression. There's no such thing.

This gives some support to Keir Starmer's comments today that "Reform and the Green Party share so much. They are soft on Russia and weak on NATO." The difference is small but significant with the Greens, and big with Reform. And there's no such thing as being neutral on Russia. Neutral means pro.

It's a leap year, one way or the other. Wishing everyone a very happy and peaceful one. Took a similar pic at this same lake a year ago. Mood as we enter 2026.

No question the media is right-leaning, but I do remember the Tory omnishambles budget in 2012, including the pasty tax, which the media tore to shreds. And I'm not sure Liz Truss survived her premiership entirely unscathed by the media :-)

Really rather annoying to have this stupid label put on my pics by BlueSky, and I bet my appeal gets nowhere. Even so... I have had one person with inappropriate content interact with me (now blocked) so yeah... all of human life is here.

Final holiday of the summer over, Scotland and Wales for me this year, and these pics capture the vibe. After years driving and flying south for sun, as most naturists do, I found SO much freedom and nature connection in our Celtic landscapes. And... started research on a new book

Oh, same cover image as Alexandra Walsham's work of genius, The Reformation of the Landscape. Those books are now on my wishlist, thanks for the tip!

Spirituality, skinny dipping, timeless flow of a river. People would have swum here like this hundreds of years ago, when this monastery still functioned, and long before too. A peaceful and deeply spiritual experience today, which BlueSky will classify as 'adult' content. It's not, dear algorithm.

A small but important (to me :-) bit of social history today, as the renovated BN Sunfolk naturist site was officially reopened. Founded in 1931, this venerable club was facing closure in 2020 but was bought by British Naturism, which has invested in new buildings and facilities.

It's one heck of a hike walking along sand to Cofete, it's so tiring walking on that stuff. I found the return journey easy enough to do, back the way I came, I think it was less than an hour from beach back up to the mountain ridge. And once I did a circular route, see my map but ONLY at low tide!!

Bit niche this but a cutting to share amidst all the other less gentle news. Found an article in Church Times dated July 1960 musing whether a Christian should join a 'nudist club'. Written by a regular columnist, then the vicar of All Saints Margaret Street, its conclusions seem fair enough.

Sunset in Lanzarote, bathing pier bravado. Staying in the peaceful naturist village of Charco del Palo in the north-east of the island. One resident told me he likes it because not so many tourists come, so there's one place that's not going to attract protests against mass tourism.

Yep I've been browsing, what an excellent resource, thank you!! I'm always struck by the description of a black woman at a German naturist site in the 1930s, recorded by the Merrills on their tour of European naturism. This extract is from 'Turning to Nature in Germany' by John Alexander Williams.

One day of sunshine yesterday, prompted me to pretend it's already spring. In a remote lake in rural Kent, might wait until it's a bit warmer for my next dip! And... not so wise to go cold water swimming alone.

Did an amazing walk across a mountain pass to get to the wild Barlovento beach. Made a video guide for the BN website if you are on there, or can DM the link to you.

Saw this beautiful heron a couple of weeks ago, nearly brushed me with its wing as it flew past.
