Last night was class, great turnout and two talks that elicited the greatest number of questions I think we’ve ever had!

This looks like a functional cafe.

Swung by Scan HQ yesterday and loved that they had a framed old pricelist on the desk in reception. I used to know these like the back of my hand.

And then last but definitely not least it’s @stefanoborrelli.bsky.social giving an oft asked for intro to Crossplane, and who better to give it!

Next it’s the legend that is @mt165.co.uk helping to demystify Gateway API

First up it’s Andrei Pokhilko from Komodor (one of our awesome sponsors) going through a couple of open source projects to help visualise Helm and also Crossplane (Komoplane)

Love Links 386 Pro, still have boxed copies of the game itself plus a bunch of courses! Watching how fast a course renders was always a great benchmark for a new machine.

That was such an epic week on every level! Can't believe it's been five years though 😬

Epic turnout for tonight’s Kubernetes Edinburgh meetup, great to see this group growing with a lot of new faces 💪

The @oxide.computer / dtraceconf shirt that just arrived goes some way towards making up for an otherwise rubbish week with computers.

btop is fancier than htop but really I don't know if there's something that shows off its features since there aren't that many 😅 The focus is mainly on performance, correctness and also feeling platform-native which it nails on all counts.

Great to see Ghostty (ghostty.org) hit 1.0 and finally be public. I've been on the beta since October 2023 and it's been a privilege to watch it evolve. And in a stroke of terminal serendipity, Berkeley Mono V2 was released today too - the Semi Condensed version is :chefs-kiss:

Took advantage of Historic Scotland’s free Sundays offer to have a mooch round Edinburgh Castle today. Forgot how epic the views were when it’s a clear day

Of course, there’s no substitute for the real thing. Every time I fire up my ancient Indigo 2 and click around in Irix I’m amazed at how snappy and immediate everything feels. For all the supposed progress in desktop computing, it sure feels like we’ve lost sight of a lot of the basics.

Purely by chance I happened to notice that there was a new release of the "MaXX Interactive Desktop" (docs.maxxinteractive.com) - the SGI Irix Desktop - just yesterday, so I installed it in a VM and it's surprisingly awesome!
