Big fan of Coup, by the same company that made The Resistance. Very fast paced and quick rounds :)

Aaaaaand that’s wraps. For the last day of August’s month of random adventures, I did an escape room with friends, yapped, and had a wonderful time: www.escapegamesworcester.com Which means I have officially survived my August of new experiences and will be doing absolutely NOTHING tomorrow. ❤️🤘

August 30th: we making ice cream. …starting the process at least. Lots of freezing involved, so I prepared the bases today and I’ll post results as they finish. • Vanilla, honey, pecan, & cinnamon • Mixed berry & almond • Chocolate, walnut, & heathbar • Habanero strawberry lemonade

So close to the end of the month now... 👁️👁️ For August 29th, I began learning from a 3D low-poly character modeling tutorial in Blender! TBH, I am enjoying it way more than when I tried proper character modeling and sculpting. crashsune.gumroad.com/l/LowPolyCou...

August 28th Adventure: I have learned that all gyms should also have arcades. I’ve been working in this building for a year and keep meaning to make use of this! Very nice space, and happy to use today’s random experience to explore it while literally no one else was there 👀

For the 27th day of an August full of new experiences, I tried a Paint By Numbers Kit! I think I underestimated the amount of time needed to finish one of these… by several hours 😅 Still cool to see some progress being made!

For anyone else in the 1st Congressional District of MA, meet Richard Neal. The email I sent was about the ongoing issues with payment processors censoring the sale of adult and LGBTQ games, urging him to back the Fair Access to Banking Acts introduced to the House (H.R.987) and Senate (S.401).

This one's a bit different: for my August 26th adventure, I learned about my local representative and sent him an email. With *gestures vaguely to world*, it's pretty easy to shut out politics. But if you're American, I still urge you to try: www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative

For August 25th of my month of random new experiences: Hike & Write! I hiked up to a meadow the next town over and did some writing for game ideas. Very peaceful ✌️

For August 24th, I played PEAK for the first time. Haven't played much "friendslop" and whether or not the genre name is demeaning, it sure is fun to say. Very enjoyable!

August Adventures, the 23rd. A coworker of mine owns a barcade in Connecticut, so we went to go visit! Featuring more Mario Kart World, Guitar Hero, and plenty of awesome arcade games. If you’re in the area, check out Gamecraft Arcade in Southington!

Day 22 ended up being a tournament of the new Mario Kart! In-person LAN parties are underrated and continue to be the best way to play games 🤘

Day 21 was a follow up to a previous day: sticker-bombing! Truth be told, I’ve always been too hesitant to use stickers. Feels like such a commitment… But even if I put them all on upside down and had to painstakingly peel them back off before reapplying, it wasn’t the end of the world!

Captain’s Log, August 20th. Today’s random adventure? Gundam kit! It was a lot of fun! My fingers hurt from snapping little pieces off, but it was still a very relaxing experience 👍

Today is Day 19 of my random August Adventures. What did I do today? I took an intro piano lesson! It entailed learning the C major scale and playing Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star — after all, you cannot learn piano in a day. All in all, a great experience! www.loudlandsmusic.com/piano-lessons

Day 18’s activity: I started a new book! Harrow the Ninth, second of the Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir. (I loved the first one, go read it.) I have a terrible tendency to forget how awesome reading is until I pick up a new book, so this was great to get me past the initial hurdle!

August Adventures for the 17th: I used Kickstarter for the first time to see what indie games I could help back! Turned out to be a wonderful compromise of being lazy halfway through the month but still doing something new 😅 Gonna break each out into their own post in the thread!

Day 16 of August. For today’s random new experience… I attended Boston GameLoop 2025! This game development un-conference is a lot of fun, and I haven’t attended since I was back in college. Really love all the conversations I had and folks I met today: www.bostonfig.com/gameloop-2025/

Fire up them grills… I’m back in the kitchen for Day 15 of new August experiences! Today, I made a 3-course meal of new dishes from a cookbook! I don’t the last time I cooked from a hard copy rather than the internet, but it was neat to pick recipes from the book.

On Day 14 of August Adventures, I watched a movie I’ve always been meaning to. Fight Club is a movie there’s very important to my people (white dudes). I see why. A very good movie. Mr. Robot is one of my all time favorite shows so finally seeing the inspiration for myself is pretty neat.

Day 13 was an attempt at crocheting 😅 Novice Tip: the “beginner” kits with 2.5 mm hooks used to make a stuffed animals for first-time crocheters are a monument to our hubris. On the bright side, I did pick up some terminology and basic techniques. Even if it took a few hours on call with friends…

And on the 12th Day of random August Adventures… Trivia Night! A group of us went out to Boston and played trivia. Team Anything had an abysmal first showing, but pulled ahead for 3rd place in the second game! We got our victory cupcakes to savor our (3rd place) win!

I’m 11 days into random August activities! Today, I read a TIME magazine. (I’ve never done more than flip through one.) Granted it was Pokémon, but hey, still counts. 😅 Featuring: - America’s attempt to ruin Pokémon - The worst/best “metaphor” - Fun etymology lesson with jump scare

Nick Frangie @nicholasfrangie.com · 11/08/2025

Okay Sokka is kinda getting awesome. And Uncle Iroh is still incredible.

010

Nick Frangie @nicholasfrangie.com · 11/08/2025

My only questions: - How long does Sokka suck for? - Am I just biased, or is Zuko and his uncle the best part of the show?

Day 10 of random August activities. I’m watching Avatar: the Last Airbender for the first time. It’s one of those shows I always wanted to, but missed out on while growing up. So far it’s pretty good 👀

August 8th: I have braved foreign corners of the internet and finally allowed myself to buy a surplus of goodies from Etsy. I bought so many stickers ya'll. My entire life, I've been too scared to use them. Hopefully this'll get me over that hesitance and I'll actually stick them to something. 😅

Ye! There aren’t many blood drives in my area, so I found out that my local-ish hospital has a permanent donor program in their basement. It was very chill 🤘

Nick Frangie @nicholasfrangie.com · 07/08/2025

It’s August 7th and I’m still doing random daily sidequests! Today, I traded my blood for snacks and a gift card. Honestly, worth it for the cookies alone. If you can, highly recommend finding a black market organ salesman (registered hospital) near you and doing the same!

Day 6! Give it up for Day 6! Today I did a beginner’s pottery class! It was a lot of fun, and I got to make a scorpion bowl.🍹

SMELLS LIKE VICTORY I have wanted to play this mod ever since I saw that Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were the worst versions of Gen 4. 😭 I haven’t played it yet, but now that I’ve modded it onto my Switch, I am positively jazzed. Oh, and I guess I get custom themes too.

Nick Frangie @nicholasfrangie.com · 06/08/2025

August Adventures - Day 5 I bought a RCM jig to mod my Switch a year ago because I desperately want to play Luminescent Platinum. I have been too scared to do it for all that time, so today was the day to do it! 3 hours of attempted modding later… it has been a battle 😅

Day 4: I meant to watch the PsychOdyssey Docuseries since it first came out 2 years ago. So some friends and I had a Discord watch party and finally started the thing! Highly recommend for game devs, especially if you were a fan of Double Fine Adventures. www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...

Day 3 of August means baking something new: Italian Rainbow Cookies 🇮🇹🌈🍪 It may have taken me 4x the time as stated by the recipe, but I’m finally putting them in the oven! Although I desperately want a cookie, it’s another 8 hours of chilling before the final assembly :( Final product to follow 🤞

Day 2 of random August Adventures and trying new experiences! I drove across the state to see my friends’ bands play, rather than take it easy and recharge after the work week. They played a bunch of covers and I met some new folks at Sull Fest 2025!
