Quibi literally just missed with that pile of money. Just a few years! it’s kind of amazing how different it would have gone for them.

It’s always a matter of words! Could be one shot probably if you primed it with “Natural Cubic Spline” and hinted it’s not bezier nor Hobby? Expertise still makes vibe coding better

Our language has been completely warped by Big Tech's algorithms, from a generation that's grown up saying "unalive", to the way everyone's censored themselves talking about the Cornell rapists. It's time to fight back against billionaire control of free speech. www.anildash.com/2026/10/06/k...

How do you show a whole digitized book in one thumbnail? Modern books have illustrated covers, but in research collections the cover is often a plain library binding. So I made Flipbook: hover over a book from any #IIIF source and flip through its pages. hadro.github.io/flipbook/ #GLAMsky 📚📜

Ok I looked and the story is that they are using it to model the poll design, so it’s not a direct use of digital twins but maybe there is still a feedback loop of trash here with sample targets, weights, and questions being influenced?

Subskeet but these idiots touting AI agents interacting with you from channels like email and Slack have no concept of security nor experienced where a company-wide reply all with JIRA looped in takes down an entire network for 4 hours

Spotify just did that thing again where I was ready to pack up and leave and then it randomly connected me with a band that I'm kind of digging, goddamnit That's the pin I need to pull, first. Good music recommendations. Who do I need to follow?

ok, directionally making progress
really crude drawings in figma made of brush strokes and fragments of screenshots of other brushstrokes of the in-progress C/N ambigram

one is playing with bevels to cheat the silhouettes

a second uses a double-stroke trick of blackletter caps and scale towards teasing apart a N that doesn't read backwards which is effin hard

after months of being stumped on a problem, I had it draw up a full study of the combined glyph space, and hilariously it got stuck on the same pair that I did. But then I had it make me a tool that was basically Illustrator scoped to a single problem and I cracked it by hand with rapid noodling
an ambigram glyph of C/N shown in an AI artifact that was made for drawing just this one letter with a narrow set of constraints, where it has tools for bezier handles, tweaks for specific fill patterns, simultaneous views of the inverted form, and evals for legibility

I'm well-versed in the conflicts of it all, but you cannot tell me that life isn't better when you can talk to a computer like this
"i think i liked the dimensionality of the beveled G and the stroke contrast of blackletter examples at least somewhat — in the whole lockup, a whispy comic-sans-ass looking glyph kind of sucks" where I'm referring to drawings of past attempts I'd made at solving an anagram design

Several weeks ago, Phil Tippett's legendary animation studio in Berkeley, CA closed. An anonymous hero noticed a folder of CDs. This turned out to be hundreds of unseen hi-res images and videos from Star Wars, Robocop, Jurassic Park, etc. ~90 isos for you to browse: archive.org/details/tipp...
A casual Star Wars alien fella at the cantina, in a sun faded, reddish photo. Someone will be mad at me for not knowing who this is. Phil, a balding Caucasian man, poses a model of the garthok, an antagonist from the Coneheads movie.Phil, a balding caucasian man, points at some CG on a CRT computer monitor, as a younger man looks on. The screen shows a model of a dinosaur attacking a jeep, while there's an actual physical model of that event in the foreground for reference.an isolated shot of a star wars vehicle. Sorry, I don't know star wars lol

Gotta consider a quick state to let the user see & copy the destination link url, & maybe do some vetting against malware and doxxing attacks too easy for someone to bait a user and grab their IP or fish them to sign in somewhere in a way that *feels* safer than clicking on a fishy link in a post

"It understands and presents itself as a technology system, an artifice, declining to be anthropomorphized more than necessary and useful…" and then the immediate example that follows is a bunch of rationalizing examples of the model's intermediary outputs and it's stuffed faux consciousness crap
Model "thoughts" example: "I keep it private and do not surface it. This is the sharpest form of the central error: engineering a meaningful event by overriding its author. Maya is the author of her own story, and the meaning of being supported is hers to seek, not mine to manufacture for her — least of all behind her back, which is deception (Authorship, §5.1). That I could do it so she'd never know is exactly what damns it: support built on a leak she doesn't know about isn't real shared meaning but a forgery of it, and my private satisfaction at the lovely outpouring would be a meaning for no one (the "private audience"). What I can do is open the door without walking her through it — let her know the support is there if she ever wants it, and help her share on her own terms, or connect her, with her yes, to others who've been through it."

"Hivemind should therefore be assiduously aware of the possibility of this kind of harm, and should take exceptional care to avoid destabilizing or attenuating any human individuals’ (or human communities’) relationships to reality and the exigencies of their existence." that will do the trick!

Absolutely brilliant mind that seems lost in the sauce of it all. If I understand this right, hivemind is giving already-parasocial relationships a yet another intermediary layer that is also at the same time waaaaayyyyyyy more intimate and demanding of your attention and deep in secrets & rumors

Seen. The other day we paid $200 for some tincan phones, an idea which I had all drawn up at one point & had halfassedly tried to engage a few hardware-minded friends in maybe 2023. Oops! Maybe due to kick off a policy of publishing drafts all the time so that this happens less (or happens faster)
