Niall Bunting @niallbunting.com · 18/08/2026Kinda extends the idea that I had about how would sync between devices 020
Niall Bunting @niallbunting.com · 18/08/2026I was working on similar but mine was a Chrome extension, i think some of the ideas could translate really well with a phone app As it was designed were nothing needs to directly contact the Chrome extension. I may have a look into this and try a POC 020
Niall Bunting @niallbunting.com · 15/06/2026I suppose that can happen to all PDS's this one is way more likely though... 110
Niall Bunting @niallbunting.com · 15/06/2026Thanks very much for you help! Yeah, I probably should sort the health check. 110
Niall Bunting @niallbunting.com · 15/06/2026Potentially so! 😂 This whole thing is an experiment in this sort of design, what happens if you break the uptime agreement Things that are more live I would expect to break more 120
Niall Bunting @niallbunting.com · 15/06/2026I do notice that something is happening with getBlob and we are returning a 502. Potentially an issue with that. 110
Niall Bunting @niallbunting.com · 15/06/2026Interesting, yeah we hit the normal relays at least the ones in this list (atproto.at/pds/localpds...). Otherwise posting etc doesn't work on Bluesky. I'll have a look into it. I wonder what's gone on there, let me have a look. If I update my character, will hit the relay again? 100
Niall Bunting @niallbunting.com · 15/06/2026If anybody knows any more ATProtocol services I can test with LocalPDS (A PDS that runs in your browser), please let me know! Just cracked some of the DPoP auth issues - turns out that 'fragment' means you shouldn't send the OAuth code/iss as query parameters. #atproto #pds 110
Niall Bunting @niallbunting.com · 11/06/2026Haha, I think it's just cool that you own all your data. I also think when private stuff comes along I can bring my browser PDS and store files in there. It never needs to be open to the internet if I don't want it to be. 010
Niall Bunting @niallbunting.com · 11/06/2026Yeah, maybe so. It does need a public server to bounce some requests eg. to handle things like OAuth. When the requests happen on the client sites (like bsky.app) it can intercept all the requests which is really nice. 010
Niall Bunting @niallbunting.com · 04/06/2026According to this: localpds.at was trending. I think that's the first time anything of mine has trended haha 1222
Niall Bunting @niallbunting.com · 03/06/2026Is that a local PDS? 👀 If it is i've been working on something similar the last week or so localpds.at. Mine does not look as shiny as that though!localpds.atLocal PDS - Building a PDS on hardware you own 121
Niall Bunting @niallbunting.com · 03/06/2026LocalPDS is live on the Chrome store! The PDS where the data lives on your machine and the server is stateless. This is very much a work-in-progress proof-of-concept and only really works on bsky.app. Expect OAuth to be added and breaking changes. chromewebstore.google.com/detail/local...chromewebstore.google.comLocalPDS - Chrome Web StoreLocalPDS is a Personal Data Server that runs in your browser 320

Working in the sense it functions not that it's secure. But it's a start! Discovered some interesting security "things" along the way. leaflet.pub/p/did:web:vw...leaflet.pubOAuth with stateless servers 021
Niall Bunting @niallbunting.com · 31/05/2026Submitted the first @localpds.at draft to the Chrome store. It's pretty basic at this stage mainly can login and post on Bluesky. Upcoming stuff is a better website blobs, oauth. Pretty interesting stuff. Also pushed the repo on tangled.org/niallbunting...tangled.orgniallbunting.com/localpdsAn in browser local PDS 110
