Check out our new paper in Solid Earth. In this study we show that deformation at the northern edge of the Quito-Latacunga microblock, a geodetically defined tectonic block, is accommodated by distributed faulting. Volcanism may also influence faulting. se.copernicus.org/articles/17/...

Distributed right-lateral strain at the northern boundary of the Quito-Latacunga microblock
Abstract. Remote sensing and field data suggest distributed right-lateral faulting at the northern edge of the Quito-Latacunga microblock in northern Ecuador and southern Colombia. Off the west coast ...

Interested in doing a MS studying faults at the University of Alaska Anchorage? I am looking for a student to work on a paleoseismic study of the Castle Mountain fault. We will use geomorphology, geophysical surveys, and sediment cores to understand kinematics and earthquake history.
