In my personal projects, my new productivity is mostly consumed by fixing genuine bugs the AI finds that I never would have until much later. I wish we would spend more time talking about making things *better* than making more things or making things faster.

I've resisted tiling window managers after many attempts over 25 years. I have now discovered paperwm and it is just brilliant. One of the best demonstrations I've ever seen of thinking about an old problem in a novel way.

It's more interesting to me that in 2026, there are people who still use (Free|Net|Open)BSD than 2026 being yet another possible Year of Linux on the Desktop. I'm happy because if we ever need to hide from Skynet, I think BSD is what we'll run.

I've never been a FOSS purist, but being able to see all the code that runs on my machine has never been more practical. 1. Agents can diagnose everything that goes wrong by reading code. 2. I can look into what an agent might do if I'm worried about giving it access to something.

Tough pill: Yesterday on twitter the algorithm served me thoughtful debate about cybersecurity, AI safety research, and the distinction between them. And the algorithm here drew me into a fight over whether one person can use AI to make a prototype for a difficult feature in software they give away.

After like two months straight of bash on linux in ptyxis, typing in pwsh on windows in terminal app feels unbearably slow. This bsky text box feels slower than the same box in edge on Linux. Both machines have similar beefy hardware. (Could be something about my config, especially in pwsh case.)

Please stop assuming that everyone wants your app to keep running forever. The close window button is supposed to exit applications! Every app that keeps running by default gets minus 100 points, and every app with no option to turn it off gets minus 1,000,000 points.

I earlier said I don’t trust the AI vendors on security. I now officially don’t trust Anthropic the most. Remote control on by default was the nail in the coffin. This is a RCE vector to your local machine and you should consciously decide if your Claude creds leaking providing this is acceptable.

It's only been one day, and I've seen less egregious but similarly shaped shenanigans there too. But I'm sold on Codex regardless. You get more AI for your money at $100/mo, its voice is easier to read, and the harness is OSS and you can even use OpenCode with your ChatGPT sub.

Well, the GPT trial is not going well. ChatGPT app registered itself as my default browser on Linux (!?!) and just hangs and cannot login. Can we please demonstrate the ability to make software that isn't broken in ridiculous ways before talking about AGI or superintelligence, humanoid robots, etc.?

Claude Fable 5, folks. Upgraded $100/mo -> $200/mo so I could use it after Opus 5 drove me nuts with this. Attempting GPT/Codex next.

● No — the guidance is clear and I just failed to follow it. ~/.agents/AGENTS.md says to open the pull request when the work starts, as a draft, and push to it freely. I did the opposite on both counts: opened it at the end, ready. Nothing in the files pointed that way; the miss is that I treated "push branch, open PR" as a finishing step out of habit instead of re-reading the flow I was executing.
