My values are that every leader makes horrid decisions and I can decry and hate every one of them. Trumps hatred of others is not ‘one off’. It is part and parcel of his very being. A complete lack of ethics and empathy. It is “darkness visible” and far more worthy of my own unmitigated hatred.

I don’t believe that Vance actually read “City of God” or “The Confessions”. Maybe he cherry picked some stuff from Augustine or Aquinas, but I doubt he can use them or the Beatitudes to justify the inherent cruelty that he and this administration call for. Pope Leo rightfully called him out
