It's a combo of all of the above. Players regularly take the blame when their coaches get fired. Retired players, players no longer on teams comment on how coaches got fired because they didn't perform.

Yep, by all accounts Webb is well liked by the players and to a man they said the playcalling wasn't the issue. I think this is especially directed at Nix who has been playing like shit.

I think it was a way to punish the players. They know Webb lost play calling because they didn't perform. Specifically, Nix and the run game.

tape wasn't good for Nix. At this point if I were a defense I wouldn't attempt to guard 10-20 yard routes or the middle of the field. Nix won't be able to do anything.

Nix finished at 2.84 time to throw and 2.0 air yards per attempt, per TruMedia. The only other games since the start of last season over 2.75 TTT and under 2.5 air yards per attempt were by Shedeur Sanders (vs Bills) and Bryce Young (vs Seahawks), both in 2025.
