Obsessed with how the light catches the damask 😍 When you write historical fiction, I think you get drawn to these intimate details. This was taken last weekend at Kensington Palace.

An old gilded wall sconce sends golden light over deep green damask, catching the velvet flock with beautiful shapes and shadows.

This felt very on theme for my writing day 💖

A purple mug of coffee, and a raspberry and chocolate chunky brownie in front of a keyboard and on a pink desk mat.

Mystery solved! The cat had jumped off the wall and cannon balled through the roof! The cat is fine and the hole is being repaired. 🛠️

Two workmen climb on a brick shed roof to repair a whole.

So lovely to hear @mhut25.bsky.social read from #BlackbirdsofSaintGiles at the Manchester launch event. Happy publication weekend! 🐦‍⬛

Marcia Hutchinson reads from her new novel at a launch event in a beautiful old panelled room.

A moodboard featuring images of Regency gentleman, a modern day young woman, as well as close ups of an old door, quill and paper, and a dust sheeted piano. The vibe is moody and poignant, with a dark and dusty colour palette.

A dark and moody collaged moodboard featuring images of Regency gentlemen, aesthetic close-ups of quills, pianos, and a doorknob, as well as a present day woman looking at historical art and holding a book with a gentleman on the cover.

Nothing more atmospheric than an old country house in the autumn dusk. This is the majestic Haddon Hall in Derbyshire.

Haddon Hall, an imposing house from the Middle Ages, sits atop a green hill. It is dusk and the building is uplit with atmospheric lighting. A river runs at the bottom of the hill, with bare branched trees along the bank.

Thought I'd do a bit of an intro as I'm new to Bluesky. 👋 I'm Nicola, I'm working on my debut novel and I signed with my agent in December 2023. I'm currently working on revisions and set to go out on submission soon! Meet my cat, Otis, who often tries to interrupt my writing time for cuddles. 🥰

A fluffy Ragdoll cat sits on a wooden desk with a keyboard and monitor. He puts his paws on Nicola's chest, who is just out of view, trying to type on her board.
