One of the best things you can do for your members is stand in solidarity with unions on strike, in contract negotiations, etc. You'll learn a lot, and when your time comes, you'll get that solidarity back 10x!

Union leadership have reached out to President Sandoval and Provost Thompson to share the *many* messages from faculty concerned about the decision to open UNR tomorrow. At this time we believe the University should follow the WCSD schedule and remain closed 8/24.

Our friends at the College of Southern Nevada-NFA had a safety clause written into their contract ensuring they have a voice on the campus Safety and Security Committee. Without a collective bargaining agreement, we can't do the same. A contract would be helpful during emergencies like the #hawkfire

Our new chapter secretary is Adrienne Renwick. Dr. Renwick is a Teaching Associate Professor in the School of Public Health. Her expertise is in trauma, substance abuse, domestic violence and issues specific to children and adolescents.

He grew up in the labor movement, walking his first picket line at 13 (where he got yelled at for being too mean to scabs) and has a background in linking labor and faith communities, and conducting research with the International Labor Organization.

Our chapter VP is @ianmhartshorn.com. Dr. Hartshorn is Associate Professor of Political Science. His academic research is on independent trade union movements in hybrid regimes, especially the Middle East, and transnational solidarity efforts.
