The “hidden (or invisible) curriculum” is baffling to those entering academia. It can be doubly vague to first generation students and others with underrepresented identities/experiences. Part of the road to equity is teaching (and sometimes challenging) these things!

Thanks Jonah for this helpful breakdown! Applicants, it’s hard to set aside that imposter syndrome. But many factors go into acceptance/rejections - decisions often reflect limited resources more than the quality of your application. Programs like NPSP can help navigate the “hidden curriculum”! 🧐📚
