Machi Koro 2 is a fun little game. The roll and collect mechanics feels similar to Catan, and the tableau sets feel like Splendor. Two of my in-laws favorites, so my hope would be this being a sure hit for them - and it was! Great #boardgames fun

A friend of Abbs' described The Oddessy as her 'Winter comfort film. I can't wait to snuggle up in a blanket and re-watch it'. I finally got around to seeing it yesterday and I think that friend might have some problems. What a film though, loved it.

Wednesday's midweek #boardgames session saw one of the fan favourites make a reappearance. It was time for some zoo management with the wonders of Ark Nova. One player had one of those funny zoos - loads of empty enclosures everywhere 😂. Not much impact though as end score was still positive!

Every year, we try pull together a big Game Of Thrones to honour a) Abbs birthday and b) the game that got us into this damned hobby. This year felt like one of the best we'd had - everyone had their go at the throne. Maybe one day we'll try this with the Targaryens... #boardgames

Tikal Legend Deluxe edition was an absolute beast. It sadly hasn't broken the pattern of me not enjoying area control games. I was quite enjoying it until the first scoring happened and I just thought there were far too many options. Lovely looking game though. #boardgames

The thing I love about @elizhargrave.bsky.social's Wingspan is the sheer volume of birds. Every game gets to feel unique because you'll be playing different action combos from your last. This was our first game with Americas and I really enjoyed what hummingbirds added. #boardgames

Quacks is just great fun, isn't it? Doesn't matter if you blow yourself up, play it safe or somewhere in the middle; everyone gets to enjoy themselves. This game was one of those where last place raced to first by the end - always the sign of a wild ride! #boardgames

The kids have wanted to start trying some tougher games and the most recent on their list was La Fleur. It's always challenging playing a game with the young'ns and this was no different 😂😂. It definitely reminded me and Abbs how much we loved this though! #boardgames

Bank Holiday Sunday resulted in us squeezing in one of our Imperial Assault missions. The devastating Rancor made an appearance, but he couldn't quite make enough impact. His leader managed to squeeze in a couple of orders without getting eaten, but bad roles led to him not lasting. #boardgames

Friday's #boardgame was my choice, so I brought Wise Guys to the table. I'd played the Sons of Anarchy version previously, and loved the back and forth agressive play. These are good to play now and again to feel a bit more interactive. I got this for a steal on ebay (£12) - well worth it!

Wednesday night saw a revisit of Race to the Galaxy - it feels like one good to try again soon after the first attempt. Very enjoyable game and I love how much it packs into such a short game. It was then time to see what all the Magical Athelete fuss was about. #boardgames

After YEARS of knowing this game existed, I've finally managed to get around to playing a game of Race to the Galaxy! I'd heard 'why bother with Terraforming when you have Race?' Well, I disagree with that, but this does pack a heck of a lot of gameplay into a nice short playtime. #boardgames

Me and 2 friends from work did the Real Ale Trail (realaletrail.uk) last Friday - my old boss had been pining to try this. You have a plan of train stops across Lancashire and Yorkshire - popping in a lovely pub on each. Of course I brought a game to complement the journey.... #boardgames

A pub table, with three golden pints in sight. The rest of the table is taken up by a three player game of Kingdomino.

Every time we put 7 wonders Duel back to the table we immediately remember why - such a great of quick back and forth. Abbs isn't too fussed about what Pantheon adds, but I really like the extra options that come available. #boardgames

Stomp the Plank is a) such a fun, easy game to play and b) always a hit with the kids. Watching them rarely have boundaries with the 'push of luck' always leads to some funny outcomes - including the odd unexpected win! #boardgames

I've been tidying up my gallery and come across pics I never shared. I introduced my friend to gaming when visiting his place for the first time. Background music being available meant a setup on the kitchen floor 😂😂. Gaming's for everywhere, right? He absolutely loved Cascadia. #boardgames

It was time for a bit of Zoo Management last night with Ark Nova! Conservations weren't working in my favour, so a few combos giving lucrative income/building placement led me to offer some great animals on display. Once again ended up playing this game in a completely different way. #boardgames

My son (9) wanted to give Coffee Rush a go whilst on holiday, and he's proving capable of quickly picking up new rules. The poor lad had the most speciality drinks I've ever seen! But he delivered most of them, leading to a huge amount of rush tokens that clearly complemented his win. #boardgames

Last night we were a bit tired after the walk into, and around Pickering. What better way to get the energy back up than a caffeine hit with the #boardgame Coffee Rush?! First time played with more than 2 and it was good to see 'too many orders' as intended. Aww, you got a couple more orders?

Euan @nexpro.bsky.social · 12/08/2026

The weather was great today, so that lead to a lovely walk into Pickering (despite the kids complaining). Travel Qwirkle got to be used exactly as it was designed: thrown in a backpack, and then brought back out in a lovely traditional pub. Great #boardgame, great #beer, great setting.

Saturday night's game needed a bit of entertainment before kick-off. I picked Knarr because it's gameplay suits my in-laws and it had a nice quick playtime. What I hadn't clocked until putting it on the table was the fact the theme fit perfectly to us facing off Norway! #boardgames

Knarr's viking theme can be seen throughout the game components.

The kids had a really good school year, and their reports were lovely. As I was so happy with them, I said they could get themselves a treat. One wanted a camera that printed pics, another a Kylo Ren costume. As a result, I'm finding pics of a little Kylo skattered everywhere.

I love it when a plan comes together.... Let's go! to Japan still amazes me at how it manages to pack so much hearty gameplay into something that can be done and dusted within 30 minutes. We added the Passport expansion this time, and I think this is a really nice little addition. #boardgames

Coffee Rush play 2 safely put it into my 'likes'. The stress of too many orders coming in vs the lovely feeling of filling a cup balances the mood nicely. It takes about 30 seconds to figure you're score as well, which is a welcome change after playing something like forest shuffle. #boardgames
