I promise I’ve been having a good Spooky Season. It’s just my #LastFourWatched has been very mixed.

A Nice Place to Visit by: Charles Beaumont (1.28) - This one I kind of love for just how much it pushes the envelope for 1960s television. Sure a modern viewer can see the twist coming a mile away, it’s a twist that others have built upon to great effect, but in 25 minutes you really do feel bad

reused prop from an earlier episode this is an episode that looks great. Charles Beaumont seems to get stronger at dialogue with each contribution to The Twilight Zone, but this is also helped by Sebastian Cabot. Cabot is the definition of a character actor and he eats the scenery with every tiny

The Big Tall Wish by: Rod Serling (1.27) - This one is decent. It hits that different than other episodes of The Twilight Zone by being a sweet story about belief being magic. There’s some interesting subtext about the need for adults to mentor kids and not to talk down to them. It’s a bit over

So this is how democracy dies. Slowly, bit by bit, with a pitiful resistance. That’s basically what #StarWars The Mask of Fear has to say: jacoblickliderreviews.blogspot.com/2026/10/star...

interesting episode. It sadly falls apart quite a bit in the final act, our criminal protagonist’s final fate feeling like it’s there for shock value, compounded with the final twist of sending his murderer back to the hangman’s noose. It’s honestly kind of a weird episode, possibly one that’s

People Are Alike All Over by: Rod Serling based on a short story by: Paul W. Fairman (1.25) - This episode is giving me serious Déjà vu for the original pilot of Star Trek. It even has Susan Oliver in a similar role with the twist being that this astronaut has been put into a zoo for humans. This

incredibly sharp one, he really is a master of dialogue. Plus the one female character isn’t reduced as poorly to sexist stereotypes. There’s still the implication of our protagonist seeing her only as a love interest, but this isn’t dwelt upon and furthers the idea of people being the same

does blow The Cage out of the water in so many regards. Mainly Roddy McDowell playing our astronaut protagonist is a huge step up, the viewer can see exactly how he is taken in by the enclosure and there’s just enough peace before the twist actually happens. The script from Serling is also just an

Long Live Walter Jameson by: Charles Beaumont (1.24) - This is a pretty fun little riff on the horrors of immortality. Beaumont writes it like a domestic drama that slowly peels back the latched that Walter Jameson is an immortal who has been making the wrong choices with his immortality.

Kevin McCarthy sells both the boredom of immortality and the fact that he has moved from relationship to relationship with quite a bit of deceit. It is the first half before the reveal of his immortality that is what drives most of the episode forward, Edgar Stehli giving an equally interesting

The Architects of History by: Steve Lyons: I adore this one. The Selachians are already such a fascinating race with a lot of potential, and a surprise that it took until the 1990s for Who to really do shark aliens and I do like that Lyons uses them as a major alien threat in a specifically altered

Survival of the Fittest by: Jonathan Clements: This is the weak link of the story arc but it’s still a great examination of just how much Klein is able to change. Fascism is buried so deep into who she is that at the end of the story she still is the one to grab the chance and steal the TARDIS.
