In the Lihani region, you will be entrusted with a Fakémon starter by Professor Narra! A former champion and researcher of the Harmora phenomenon, she'll need your help with her studies.

I don't think it's even necessary to compare it to other turn-based RPGs because none of them have the simultaneous depth and simplicity that Pokemon does. Even just on a surface level, it's an RPG with- depending on the game of course- like, 400 party members, all of which are customizable.

That's the thing- lots of people just don't care about that stuff in Pokemon games. Sure, the pacing and writing in SwSh is awful, but the gameplay (terrible area design and lack of variety aside) is solid as ever

Eh, I think lots of it is relative to the rest of the series. Like, base Sword and Shield are poopoo terrible as Pokemon games, but on their own or if you don't really have a frame of reference? They're still good fun, at least for a majority of the runtime.

I think BDSP is insulting, yes, but it fixes DP'S biggest problems, making it actually kinda fun now

You know, I don't think there's a single Pokémon game that's truly bad, aside from maybe base DP. The formula is just so rock solid that it can carry even the weakest entries.
