NEW from veteran journalist and author of COURIER's Stop the Presses newsletter @markjacob.bsky.social: "There won’t be a group text message to notify us if a dictatorship descends and democracy dies. So here are some signs to watch for."

How to know if you’re living in a dictatorship

We're already seeing signs of creeping fascism, and it could get much worse.

The United States and frankly the entire world were robbed of what could have been a truly historic Presidency.

It’s Sunday, so let’s share the good word: If churches want to play politics, they can pay taxes like the rest of us. God doesn’t need a tax break, but millionaire pastors sure seem to love one.

Pres. Carter was a true civil servant. He did so much to help others including his work with Habitat for Humanity. It’s incredible to think how many lives he touched with that alone. I wish more modern politicians understood that public service is supposed to be FOR the people not for themselves.

71,000 people. 71,000 people have raised their hands and said, "We will stand by our pan this Thanksgiving and not burn down our homes."

A giant erupting volcano. An enormous turkey the size of a mountain is emerging from the center. The turkey is holding a fire extinguisher in one wing and a turkey fryer pot in the other. The text reads: The Thanksgiving volcano! Nobody likes The Thanksgiving Volcano. Fry your turkey safely. Follow the directions for your fryer. Only fry a turkey outside and away from your home or other flammable materials. Never use turkey fryers in an enclosed area like the garage or porch. Stand by your turkey!

A woman singing and dancing in her kitchen. Behind her is a large sentient cooked turkey holding a pot and fire extinguisher also dancing. It is Trent Turkey! They are listening to Se Pone Caliente off of CPSC’s debut album ‘We’re Safety Now Haven’t We’. The woman sings loudly, “Yo no se pa' que pretendes que no eres peligrosa!” The text reads: Celebrate Thanksgiving the Trent Turkey way! Stand by your pan, America! Unattended cooking is the #1 cause of home fires. Make sure you have a working fire extinguisher and working smoke alarms in your home

Two dads and their kid at the kitchen table looking at a recipe on a tablet. There is a sentient cooked turkey behind them holding a sauce pan - it is Trent Turkey! One dad says, "Is it still behind me?" The other dad replies, "Yes. Be quiet!" Their kid says, "I love you, Trent Turkey!" The text reads: Plan your Thanksgiving the Trent Turkey way! Make sure you have a working fire extinguisher, working smoke alarms, and stand by your pan! Unattended cooking is the number one cause of home fires!

A man, Uncle Jimmy, cutting a turkey with a suspiciously blank expression. He's wearing a chef hat, but it is unclear if he is a trained chef. The text reads: Nobody knows why Uncle Jimmy is mad at birds. Uncle Jimmy looks at the cooked turkey and mutters, "comeuppance." The text continues: But everyone is glad he stands by his pan and always has a fire extinguisher in the kitchen. Unattended cooking is the number on cause of home fires.
