In the earliest Golden Age years, anthology comics were monthly as a rule while featured titles (Superman, Human Torch, Captain Marvel Adventures, etc) were quarterly initially because the publishers believed the lack of variety made those comics a bit more monotonous. Hard to believe today.

I believe it was Len Wein who launched the Demon's rhyming patter in a single issue of DC Comics Presents and Moore had no problem adopting that bit into his stories. I don't recall the issue number off the top of my head.

My take is that the artist is depicting Lois and Clark as a long-time married couple, where the husband, wanting a snack, eats right out of the fridge, leaving the door wide open, and wifey will clean it up as usual.
