Guess who the next character is?? Hairy Woodpecker!! Reference provided by @peterwelsh.bsky.social, thank you kindly. I'm going to need a lot more practice stylizing this friend. I will admit this turned into me playing with the background and lighting more than I did the bird itself, oops. 🪶🐡

A Hairy Woodpecker perched on a branch amidst many other branches and bright leaves. The Woodpecker is staring at the branch it is on, likely preparing another peck at the bark.

One of the only arguments I've enjoyed being apart of. I've never had so many Red-Winged Blackbirds so close to me. 🪶

Pigeon Unicorn, inspired by @fleebites.bsky.social <3 When I saw this post, I was obsessed at first glance-- It's such an adorable, clever idea. I knew I really wanted to try with my own creature. #PigeonSky 🪶

Tweaking Pigeon's design was an unavoidable canon event, but I'm happy. Baby's first step toward being more animation friendly!! #PigeonSky 🪶

A design sheet for Pigeon including fullbodies in these poses: two with Pigeon crouching forward with head down, Pigeon standing very straight, Pigeon sitting and having their legs splayed out, and Pigeon standing with wings spread out in shock.

Sleepy loading screen as I'm playing with a few minor details in Pigeon's design. <3 #PigeonSky 🪶

Pigeon laying down toward the right with eyes closed and head nestled into fluffed up feathers. There are a few Z's above their head to relay more of the sleepiness.

Great Blue Heron!! I see them quite often, but they never fail to be striking. Taken in June. 🪶

Ducklings!! I wanted to post these before summer officially leaves us. Taken in June. 🪶

I recently pulled pictures from my camera and came across these from back in June, which was also the first time I went birding. Imagine my surprise when I captured this interaction: a Red-Winged Blackbird mobbing a Bald Eagle. I know they're not the best shots, but woah!! Very good memory. 🪶🐡

#AvianAugust flew by (haha) without me being able to participate but I saw the Nicobar Pigeon get spotlight and I knew I wanted to spend some time doing something for them and their beloved relative, the Dodo. #PigeonSky 🪶🐡

Most pigeons are interested in seeds and crumbs. Some are interested in can tabs. It's a rare pigeon that is interested in art... REALLY interested in art. #PigeonSky 🪶

6 months of this project without an account icon... a little wild. I'm happy to remedy that today. <3 #PigeonSky 🪶

A happy pigeon looking up to the camera with their head mostly in frame and body only partially. A large question mark is to the right of its head because they are a silly creature.

With enough practice comes my very own pigeon character.. Pigeon. I know, I know. The name is a bit of a squint, but hey-- I know I did something right because this thing gives me cuteness aggression. Expect Pigeon often; this is a newkyi studio mascot in the making. ;D #PigeonSky 🪶

A reference sheet featuring a pigeon character named Pigeon with They/It pronouns. The display has two fullbodies, a wingspan, and close features for the eye and beak colors. Pigeon has a light blue head and light brown wings with a lot of white markings and the classic green, purple feathers on the neck. Pigeon is very cute, if I do say so.

Wing Study!! Starting at left corner, going down: blocking diagram, full detail feathers, stylized spread, and then going back up for the stylized fold sequence. Feel free to reference!! Though, I wouldn't say these are 100% accurate. The end goal is to stylize further. #PigeonSky 🪶🐡

Coopuccino was a great welcome back into pigeons after such a break!! Also, my first pigeon piece after moving across the country. Yay!! Thank you @harkthorn.bsky.social for sharing your lovely feathered friends. #PigeonSky <3 Surprisingly, no thought thread on this one!! I'm ready to keep going.

Do not fret-- I would never dare animate feathers to this degree. Reina was just too fluffy for me to relay differently. Thank you @renderscape.bsky.social for your pigeon contribution!! #PigeonSky <3 Not too much to say, but let's make a thought process thread anyway. ( 1/3 )

@hceedee.bsky.social I do not regret to inform you that I had a bit more fun and made your pigeon move. Perhaps a pigeon's true dream would entail being involved with seeds on a forever loop. #PigeonSky

I saw this sequence of Boom-Boom and I knew what needed to be done. Thank you @hceedee.bsky.social for providing your lovely arsenal of pigeon pictures!! #PigeonSky <3 This was really good expression practice alongside my learning of style/design. More on that below. ( 1/4 )
