One of the residents at New Hope House is getting into model-making. This kind of activity requires concentration and focus. He is enjoying the process, even though it is fiddly at times! It's so important for people in recovery to have different activities to focus on.

Huge thanks to the anonymous donor(s) who purchased much needed items from our Amazon wishlist. We've received hoodies and joggers for people accessing the Haven, towels for residents in the Recovery Service, and bed linen for the beds in our Emergency Accommodation! Thank you!

The pool tournament at New Hope House is underway! Everyone had a great time, encouraging and commiserating one another. Lots of fun, laughter, jokes and singing! Events like this help the residents form a sense of community, build positive memories, and take steps forward in journeys of recovery.

Now that the mornings are colder, a hot breakfast is essential at the Haven to serve to people who have spent the night sleeping rough. We are grateful for donations from Duckshill Farm, our reliable driver volunteer who collects the eggs, and our kitchen volunteer who makes these tasty omelettes!

Choosing second-hand items gives clothes another lease of life and can help reduce the environmental impact associated with producing new fashion. New Hope’s charity shops are packed with donated items and Rebecca, our Fundraising Manager, found a lovely Fatface top and some Boden trousers!

Thank you to everyone who donated to our Seaside Appeal! Earlier this week a minibus of New Hope residents headed to Littlehampton for a day at the beach. Everyone enjoyed fish and chips, and an ice-cream. It was a beautiful day with one resident saying: "I'm so glad I came."

There's something about being on water that is so relaxing! A group of New Hope residents visited Stanborough Lakes Water Sports Centre recently for an evening of paddleboarding. They said it was: fun, relaxed, exhilarating, fulfilling, a good workout, a good laugh and good exercise.

Some lovely words from a man who recently left our support and he has really captured what makes us who we are. This man's daily visits to the Haven for his essentials and support eventually led to him successfully applying for a job in another part of the country where he now happily lives.

This week, one of the residents has been building a handmade solar-powered water-feature to make the space a little more restful and attract more wildlife to the garden. "We wanted a water-feature and I'd built fountains before so we came up with a design and then got on with it."

Last week, a man who had been accessing the Haven on and off while rough sleeping for several years moved into his own home! There are numerous barriers to getting everything in place for a successful move so we are thrilled that he now has a place of safety and comfort to call his own!
