It’s the truth and calling out moral disconnect that upsets people the most. So I’m not surprised by the backlash Billie Eilish received for stating the obvious. Those of us who advocate for animals experience this throughout our lives. Will repeat: YOU CAN’T CLAIM TO LOVE ANIMALS AND ALSO EAT THEM!

I’ve come to see that those who betray themselves, quieting their own nature, grow harsh. Tenderness and kindness turn to bitterness and resentment. What we suppress does not fade; it gains power and erupts like a volcano. open.substack.com/pub/nevena97...

Sometimes, you push through out of discipline, sometimes out of love—and sometimes, simply out of spite—to honor this incredible, almost unbelievable chance at life. There are 8 billion people in this world but only 1 of you. open.substack.com/pub/nevena97...

Today is International Pet Day. Please adopt, don’t shop. “The existence of stray, abandoned and abused dogs is a reflection of the limits of our empathy as a society. We are only as great as the way we treat animals, and by extension, all those who are vulnerable.” open.substack.com/pub/nevena97...
