There’s more I want to say but I can’t format it right and I gotta go back to work. Take care.

I lock up and end up staring at a blank page. Art takes a kind of seeing. It takes a stepping away to see the bones of the piece; maybe to eventually create something similar. Now more than ever It’s hard to step away considering that we are confronted by so many amazing pieces.

For me, it’s when I see an artist I really like and I try to replicate what they’ve done. I end up trying too hard. I focus on parts of a piece, and neglect others. So when I’m done, I look back and I don’t like what I see; I get discouraged.

- maybe I’m forcing myself to try to make art out of a vague desire to impress. Multiple factors compound and paralyzes my ability to make art. I don’t have any clear notion on how to work through it. (2/2)

I understand. Just curious, what are some of your reasons for why art is joyless to you? For me, I sit down to work on art work and get overwhelmed. I’m not sure if it’s do to: - a form of social media imposter syndrome. The large gap between my skill and artists online. -a form of anhedonia (1/2)

Royal Lounge

My oil painting of an anthropomorphic silver tabby cat lounging amongst colorful pillows smoking a hookah. He has a black studded collar on with blue underwear and blue jewelry hanging from the collar. The hookah tube is also teal blue, matching his underwear and jewelry.

Our feature artist/ref today is on FORESHORTENING ARMS by @ruchikapose! The MID-POINT of the arm ( here marked with WHITE bands) SHIFTS BACK VISUALLY when foreshortening - combined with the OVERLAP caused by the WIDTH of the upper forearm, we see VERY LITTLE of the UPPER ARM!
