Took my own advice and it's even better than I remembered, but I also hadn't remembered the sudden, shockingly unnecessary use of a real bad slur near the end (not in reference to a person, it's in the context of the characters discussing the rhyme "eeny meeny miny mo"). So fair warning for that.

We got a hold of this when I was in undergrad and the thing that stuck out even more than the terrible concept and choices behind it was just how abrasive it was in execution; the sitcom beats were there but with the energy turned up so high it was the equivalent of peaking audio.

I finished FINAL FANTASY VII: CRISIS CORE 17 years after I started it, since my PSP died for good when I was about a third of the way through. I think it's not good? It's not a sign of faith in your prequel's story that the big reward you get is the opening cutscene from the original.

This is a hell of an essay but looking back one thing that sticks out is calling Bush our "goofy child-President." And it feels like a throughline to where we are now is everyone treating a 54 year-old as too young and inexperienced to be president, when in fact he was just too dumb and evil.
