4/4 We highlight the role of #social factors in shaping #YawnContagion and call for further research on cross-species and cross-agent interactions. And let's not forget the benefits of #interdisciplinary #research #psychology #zoology #robotics Thank you @FundacioMONA💛 Read PDF here rdcu.be/epCQU

3/4 Additionally, while observing the #android yawning, some #chimpanzees engaged in behaviours associated with drowsiness (gathering bedding materials, lying down) This suggests that #yawning observation may be a contextual cue for rest, rather than merely triggering a #MotorResonance response.

Fig. 3. Total number of behaviours displayed. (A) Frequency of yawns and gapes in all the experimental conditions (Close and Post-Close, Gape and Post-Gape, Yawn and Post-Yawn). (B) Frequency of yawns (left) and gapes (right) during the exposure and post exposure period (5 min each) (C) Time spent lying down (left) and looking at the android (right) during the exposure and post exposure period.

2/4 #Chimpanzees observed an #android portraying specific facial expressions, including yawns and gapes. They exhibited significantly more #yawn #contagion when the android displayed a fully wide-open mouth (Yawn condition) than in the control conditions (Gape and Close). #SocialCognition
