If anyone is struggling to understand how our media and politicians are still talking about an RAF Fairford "bomb plot" when there were no bombs found, then the Forest Gate raid in 2006 is a useful comparison en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forest_...
Photo taken by Netpol's campaigns coordinator in 2006 of the end of Lansdown Rd in Forest Gate, closed by police after a "bomb plot" terrorism raid led to the sealing off of the area for a week. One man was shot but fortunately survived – there was no bomb factory, yet the Kahar family were smeared by the media for weeks

Lots of people still need to wear a mask in 2026. Lara Wong, of Clinically Vulnerable Families, writes for Netpol on why new police powers to create mask-free zones at protests (and arrest everyone for wearing one) is a public health issue, not just a public order one netpol.org/2026/09/15/w...

How exactly does stopping a man on a mobility scooter and forcing him to remove the mask keep the people of Portsmouth any safer? www.coastfm.co.uk/news/uk/anti...
Only one person could be seen wearing a face covering - a man on a mobility scooter who was wearing a plastic face mask and was stopped by police at the square.

Officers spoke to him about the policing powers in place and he then removed the mask and continued on his way.

We very much enjoyed @gardencourtlaw.bsky.social infographic explaining the rather convoluted efforts that the state has gone to to supress juries and persecute Rajiv Menon KC.
Infographic titled 'The Rajiv Menon KC Contempt Case: The Timeline.' Chronological timeline from August 2024 to July 2026. Key events: activists break into the Elbit Systems arms factory in Bristol (Aug 2024) and are charged; the trial judge rules the case involves terrorism and bars a 'lawful excuse' defence; Palestine Action is proscribed as a terrorist organisation (Jul 2025); Rajiv Menon KC delivers his closing speech for defendant Charlotte Head, invoking the principle of jury equity (Jan 2026); the judge finds Menon breached legal orders during that speech and refers him for contempt proceedings; the jury in the original trial fails to reach verdicts on several charges; a retrial convicts four defendants of criminal damage, with the judge ruling it an act of terrorism; the Court of Appeal twice rules in Menon's favour, finding the lower courts acted unlawfully in pursuing him; Menon lodges a second appeal; on 24 July 2026, the Court of Appeal stays his trial to allow that second appeal to be heard. Text at bottom: Rajiv Menon KC faces a maximum sentence of two years in prison. Includes a photo of Rajiv Menon.

The Court of Appeal did indeed say that as a result of its covert efforts to avoid detention, "Palestine Action has little or nothing in common with the suffragettes" at para 161. This is why history matters
The nature of Palestine Action

160. The first factor to be considered in favour of proscription is the nature of Palestine Action. As we have explained above, Palestine Action is not a transparent non-violent direct action protest group as it claims (see [149]-[150] above). It is a covert organisation that has revealed little about itself in these proceedings. The Underground Manual reveals that its activities are carried out by unidentifiable cells, whose objective is to avoid detection.

161. The essential characteristics of Palestine Action are, in fact, the antithesis of the kind of civil disobedience protest group explained in Jones and Cuadrilla at [145]-[146] above. First, Palestine Action’s activities are planned and undertaken secretly with the objective of avoiding detection (see, for example, the Underground Manual at Annex A advocating creating cells to take “actions without detection as part of Palestine Action Underground”, and explaining “how to get to the site and leave undetected”). Secondly,
the members of Palestine Action do not vouch their sincerity by accepting the penalties
imposed by the law. Thirdly, on a fair analysis, Palestine Action has little or nothing in common with the suffragettes or the anti-apartheid or Iran War protest groups (see
[149]-[150] above).

If you are in central London on Saturday to march with the Palestine Coalition, don't forget these five key 'Know Your Rights' messages – and share them with others who may not know them
Joining the Palestine protest? Here's our key advice!

🍉NO COMMENT. You don't need to answer police questions, so don't.

🍉NO PERSONAL DETAILS. You don't have to give personal details under any stop and search power*, so don't.

🍉UNDER WHAT POWER? Ask "Under what power?" to challenge the police to act lawfully. They must have a legal basis for their actions.

🍉NO DUTY SOLICITOR. Use a recommended solicitor with protest experience if you are arrested.

🍉NO CAUTION. A caution is a legal admission of guilt.

*There are a few situations in which police may have a power to require personal details: if someone is driving a vehicle (or another licensed activity); if they are being fined under a Fixed Penalty Notice; under a particular anti-social behaviour power (which should not generally be used against protesters); or if there is a particular by-law (for example, in a port or airport).
