A couple of small plague doctors. Been trying to draw a little bit every day and honestly, it's doing wonders.
A "chibi" style plague doctor, ghostly hands held in front of her. A "gremlin" style plague doctor, hands held out to her side in an 'enthusiastic' or 'alarmed' manner.

Couple of mood pieces for Lysabet after some emotional roleplay within the community. I'm starting to get back into a 'do personal art more than once a month' groove and it's feeling pretty good.
A plague doctor character covering her masked face with her hands in a show of distress. Her outfit is green and brown, and her mask is metallic with red lenses for eyes. Two red vials are attached to her belt. An ornamental skull pins her cloth mantle to her shoulders. Her arms are ghostly, wrapped in black bandages. Her fingers are long and glowing, providing an odd lighting to the image.A plague doctor sits solemnly in the grass at night, surrounded by moths. A moth has landed on her ghostly, glowing hand. Mountains can be seen in the distance, underneath two moons of different sizes, one blue and one white. The entire image has a sorrowful, thoughtful vibe, despite the subject matter being greatly unemotive.

Our VTT group finally met the current "big bad" this evening so I can share this, now. My spouse's creation, "The Supervisor", a scientist doing rather rational and completely legal experiments in a very unsettling way that the PCs don't like.
A grim, armored figure cast in yellow lighting, shrouded by thick fog. His shoulders are adorned with ornamental visages of skulls, while his arms are crossed indifferently. He wears an oni half-mask and a yellow hooded cloak. His facial features are obscured by further masking, but blue eyes peer from the dark in a distant expression.

More plague doctor Mort that I made in the last couple of years.
A small cartoonishly-drawl plague doctor in a red jacket, black gloves, and white plaguemask/helm sleeping on his front, beaked mask out before him. His arms are stiffly at his side. It does not look like a comfortable sleeping position.A redraw of a Darkest Dungeon graphic featuring a plague doctor in a red jacket, a white plague mask/helm, dark gloves, and a cravat. He is not having a good time, considering the amount of red light.

A couple of lil' pieces I've done lately. One on the right was done like a week ago; featuring Lysabet and my spouse's character, Mort. :> Left one was a speedpaint I did tonight after wrecking my ribcage in an exercise accident. Ow.
A spooky hastily-painted chest-up portrait of a plague doctor peering ominously through a tear in her witchy hat with one red eye. A skull ornament keeps her cloth mantle secure. From below, there is a ghostly teal light; from above, a forboding purple glow. She is facing the camera. Two plaguedoctors stand side-by-side, both with their hands pressed together. One is dressed elegantly in red, with black gloves, an old-fashioned cravat, and a metal white plague doctor helm. The other dressed in a brown cloth mantle with a witchy hat, a leather head-covering with a metal beak, and has ghostly hands and a small skull ornament. There is no real emotion here, it's just silly.

And now I have the gloves. :> My set is complete. Also holy wow thank you for the reposts and likes! And I'm over 100 followers now! I shall celebrate by doing my best to make more art. 👏

Lysabet's updated reference sheet for the foreseeable future.
A reference sheet for a spooky plague doctor character with ghostly hands. Includes displays of her items (a staff that can become a ghostly scythe, a spellgun, and a lantern), as well as a display of her magic usage, gestures, and vials that she often uses. There is also a cat named Echo.

Continuing the trend of 'trying to break the art block'. Also playing around with concepts before I'm accidentally forced into a narrative corner with this character. Digital art, 2-3 hours- I wasn't keeping precise time.
A digitally illustrated headshot of a pallid, deathly figure in a grey hood wearing a hanging cloth mask over their nose and mouth. Hair sticks out on their side of their face, and two ghostly eyes peer from deep eyesockets. There's an eerie light coming from above. The entire vibe is that 'she knows what you did'. An accusing, angry stare- not necessarily evil, but certainly unhappy and negative.

Hi I'm still alive here's the cultbreaker 'bout to do business with a cult. I like this outfit, a lot. Inspired a little by the Bloodborne playthrough I'm struggling through atm.
A spindly semi-androgynous character walks forward aggressively with a magic pistol in one hand and a vial of something golden and glowing in the other. She wears a longcoat and a three-point wide-brimmed hat, with vials and a ghostly lantern on her hip. Her glaring, teal-colored ghostly eyes give the impression that she's about to angrily hurt someone.A spindly semi-androgynous character walks forward aggressively with a magic pistol in one hand and a vial of something golden and glowing in the other. The background is large, hand-written text that says "You'll just have to find another way to BREAK THEM"

A thing for #makeaterriblecomicday about my D&D character that one day saw something in the Mere of Dead Men. Reuploaded to fix a typo in the alt text and in the tag.
A terribly drawn comic that relays a story.

Panel 1: The text says "My character saw something she shouldn't have." The image is of a natural 20 on a d20, and a rogue looking confused.

Panels 2 and 3: The text is split between the panels. It says "A little girl we had rescued was somehow keeping the undead hordes of the mere at bay." The image shows the rogue looking down at a young, unassuming child, then looking up at a horde of zombies that're just standing there.

Panels 4, 5, 6: The text says "The child then noticed my character staring". The text is split up between the three panels. It shows a little girl with red eyes glaring off-screen, then looking up without red eyes with a perplexed expression, at the rogue, who looks scared.

Panel 7: The text in this panel says "Alice decided not to tell the others. It was the right decision." The image shows an adventuring party cheering in the background, while the rogue looks down with a LOT of worry at the child, who has their back to us.

New avatar thing. Another speedpainty thing. I coulda done better but I started to hate it, so I knew it was time to stop. As one does.
A discolored, potentially undead woman stares with alarm or incredulity at the viewer. She's wearing a white/brown/gold cravat, old-fashioned jacket, and a wide-brimmed hat. A pale gold glow lights her from underneath.

March has been a really bad month for me, health-wise, but I'm starting to be on the up-and up. Breaking back into character art with a 40-minute speed paint. This guy's an old character: a silly skeleton wizard named Oddfellow.
A bust of a skeletal wizard who seems to be smiling. Purple is the dominant color of his robe and wizard hat, with little animal skulls on his shoulders.

Howdy, #PortfolioDay! I'm Batty, primarily a digital artist (but I dabble in traditional paints). I make character art for friends and visual aids for my own VTT group (and sometimes maps). I like lighting (a lot) and try to use colors and lights to help tell stories.
An eldritch entity of bones and blood-red light breaks free of a prison of crimson roots after thousands of years. She looks up at a golden sky for the first time in many ages as her brothers (and jailors) watch on.A previously glorious cathedral or castle lays in ruins now, potentially millennia later. The entire landscape is colorless, showing a misty, destroyed landscape, and a distant, looming darkness.Four versions of the same character have half-bodies drawn in various poses. Lit by a smoking potion bottle is Mort, a friendly pathologist, in blue robes and hood. Lit by a possible candle is also Mort, reading a book. He looks concerned and kind. On the other side, lit from a stark white light from above is an additional Mort, wearing a metallic plague doctor like helm. He's in fancy attire and holds a warscythe. At the top is a fourth and final Mort, lit from behind by dark magic, wearing a silly grinning bronze skull-mask, and holding a voodoo doll. He's threading the doll with a bright blue string that ties all the other Morts together.A top-down battlemap of a room covered in crimson vines vaguely shaped like a heart. A massive bovine-adjacent skull is trapped there. A blood-red light glows from its eyesockets and the gaps between the roots.

Just a small medium at large. More Lysabet, my forsaken necromancer. #wowoc #WarcraftArt
A thin, emaciated woman in a raggedy old cloak. Her clothes look beat up. A dagger and a flask are connected to her belt, and a shoulder-bag is slung over her chest. A funky little skull keeps her cloak pinned together. She's holding onto a staff made of bones and holding her hand under a floating, glowing lantern. Wisps of light- possibly souls- dance around the lantern.

Happy Halloween! My very tattered and torn-up #ghost for your amusement-- she's a wraith, to be exact. #warcraftart This was anti-burnout art. Something different, and for myself. Been wanting to make art of Lysa's ghostly self for a while, but man, a lot's been happening. So, here it is.
Against a hazy teal background where the barest hint of massive chains can be seen, floats a tattered ghost. She has an empty hood, and her legs trail off into ragged, cloth-like wisps. Parts of the ghost are damaged and sewn together by pale blue stitches. Her lower arms are just the shapes of bones, and her hands are claws. Her left arm is shattered, and sort of stuck in place by mysterious means. The ghost from the previous image is now floating in front of the windows of a giant spectral lantern: three blue windows with a crossbar through them. Below the ghostly figure are a lot of shadowy, reaching hands, all seem intent on grabbing at or for the ghost.

Some interior pieces from my VTT group's previous campaign (the one that just wrapped). I'm not the best at a lot of things, but I try to follow the Bob Ross rule of 'giving an impression' and letting the imagination do the rest.
The interior of a fantasy tavern. Crimson roots grow through the walls and floors, and string lights are used to decorate the inside. Trophies from war adorn the walls, including weapons, drums, and skulls. The fireplace glows magenta rather than orange. Attendees include an orange cat, a strange owl-deer, a blue elf, a kelpie, and a hooded lizard. A large blue-feathered friendly figure servers at the bar, and a humanoid with spider-like limbs acts as an attendant. The overall vibe is cozy, and hints at a larger establishment with stairs going up the back of the room.An image of a witchy chamber, adorned with drapery, occult tapestry, and glinting mirrors hanging from the ceiling. Shelves and tables are decorated with magical reagents (crystals, cards, bowls of herbs, parchments and scrolls) and shelves are lined with tomes. A plinth in the middle of the room holds a bowl of eerie crimson light. A circular window lights the room, because lord knows those candles aren't doing a good job of it.A large round room with four visible doors, overgrown with crimson roots. Fonts of glowing crimson liquid space out the room, and a giant statue of some sort of tree (also overgrown with real roots) stands tall in the middle. Lights overhead shine down a pink glow. The stone room has a stone plinth in front of the trees, which holds an old tome. We can't see what's written in the tome.A vibrantly-lit stone corridor bathed in orange and red light. Everything is very ornate, with violently violet banners hanging above. Many doorways line the corridor, spaced by columns. Crimson roots have broken through the floor, cracking the stone.

30 minute speedpaint of my 3.5e character-- a skeleton paladin, called Saint Lucius the 17th by the temple. Described, personality wise, as a "mute Kronk, but a skeleton". Those who've known me a while may also find Luci here a little similar to an older character. 😉
A headshot of a skull in an old hood, surrounded by flowers. A bit of armor can be seen: a shiny gorget and breastplate.

Also, have the "final boss" that my players faced. They were pretty sure they'd have to kill him, but surprise, he was just a little guy, kinda trapped, and very much a coward! I mean, his name was Lord Craven, after all...
A strange and thin humanoid creature wearing a stained white mask adorned with a crown of thorns. Blue glowing eyes peer fearfully from his mask. He is clutching the "throne" of roots he sits on in fear, but the roots also entangle him, trapping him there.

She blossomed. :) My players were very surprised what was inside!
An image of an eldritch tree under a golden sky, with bare branches. She appears to be unravelling admist a cloud of mist or dust, with wide, eye-like wounds in the crevices of her roots. An image depicting a giant skeletal monstrosity- an eldritch being with a deerlike skull and a humanoid torso. She pulls herself free from red roots, toward a golden sky, out from branches unravelling around her. A crimson glow beams from her chest and eyes. Two much smaller figures panic below her.

Oh right, I did paint a giant eldritch tree-queen for my vttrpg group. I'm still kinda proud of it, and the players' reaction was pretty great. I don't think they expected her to be so big and gnarly.
An artist's depiction of a massive, gnarled tree growing up through a ravine. Her bark is twisted and almost fleshy. Unlike a normal tree, she doesn't have any leaves, and is entirely crimson, with bright blood-red light seeping through the gaps in her bark.

Hello, I'm not dead! I've been suffering a months-long art block and finally broke through with art of my grandfatherly shadow-cultist, Nadaelius. This scratchy-paint style is fun, and I might do more with it. That's twice now that it's gotten me through art block. #digitalart

I did make a reference for her around the same time as making this, and last night I doodled up some more expressions. I had fun during my first RP back!
Four sketched expressions, showing a hooded character's disgust, embarrassment, indignant anger, and inner peace.A reference sheet of a hooded character; the half-body on the left shows an annoyed woman in long gloves and a jacket, three expressions in the middle of the page show how that character looks when she's intrigued, cunning, and horrified. A full-body to the right shows the character's full outfit: hooded cloak, half-face mask, long jacket, and tall boots- with a white staff. Magic flows behind her. Text in the bottom right reads "Lysabet, Necromancer's Apprentice".

(Digital, 6+ hrs) Recent #art I finished of my psychopomp character, Lysabet. In all versions of this character, she's a seer to the spirit world- sometimes, much to her chagrin. I'm returning to WoW, so I decided to revisit that version of the character for this piece.
A hooded woman stands in an eerie, foggy pine forest. She's wearing a cloak, with a long jacket and a shoulder-satchel. She has one hand held nervously over her chest, and the other hand holding onto an engraved staff. The same hooded woman from the previous picture, in the same pose. However, now it is obvious why she is nervous: ghosts reach for her from all sides, and a ghostly glow comes from her left glove, staff, and eyes. The sky has become a vortex of souls.

More images I'm pulling from my VTT's archives; this time, encounters. Because we're a RP group that started in WoW, the first two may look similar to Maw denizens- as we ran a campaign there. The third and fourth images are post-WoW, when we branched off away from the game.
This is a digital painting of a winged humanoid in concealing, ominous metallic armor. A hood covers any defining features. They're kneeling, and holding a flanged mace.A digital painting of a bear-like or dog-like construct made of dark, shineless metal. Ghostly light peeks from within its ribs and its eyes. It has a skeletal appearance, and stands amid pale mists and hovering chains.A digital painting of some sort of monster made from long white points, with a fiery light from within. It looks aggressive and violent, and has too many fingers, with no discernible eyes.A digital painting of a very colorful monster with many arms, but no humanoid body. Instead, they all seem to connect to a central, fuzzy mass of purple. The arms are tattered, as if damaged, and boneless- spilling out stuffing, like a plush toy, instead of blood. The head the arms are supporting is doll-like, white a half-head of blue and pink hair. The entire entity is cartoonish in nature and "friend shaped".

Older illustrations I did for my VTT group a few years back. The hanging garden, cavern, and orrery were all located inside the ruins in the fourth image. There were other locations that I painted like this, but I like these the best, even if I don't use them anymore. ✨
This is a digital painting, from a POV that is looking up through a room filled with hanging plants of various types. High above there is a blue glass window. Water seems to be falling down like rain. Windows from which the plants hang from imply that there are stairs elsewhere, but none appear in the painting. This is a digital painting of a dark cave. A carved stairway leads to a makeshift infirmary against one of the cavern walls. In the center of the cavern is a magical blue spring that glows brightly, lighting the entire cavern. This is a digital painting of a magical orrery. A round room with a staircase that follows the walls in a spiral. The room is lined with bookshelves, and at the center of the room is some sort of magical console that projects planets as floating blue holographic images. This is a digital painting. A lush valley surrounded by mountains against a blue sky. Four elven towers lay in overgrowth, with ruins at their base. Old roads travel through the valley, snaking around rocks, lakes, waterfalls, and trees. A dirigible is seen leaving the leftmost tower, where a docking platform seems to have been built.
