My son asked for this as a present. Well, say no more, boy.

Sometimes fintech has zero tech. As in transferring shares between brokers feels like sending a fax with real people doing manual work (for 5-20 business days) on both ends with you in between.

Supply chain issues and open source are two sides of the same coin. fpgmaas.com/blog/collaps... mkdocs is shattered, httpx is sliding off the rails. and while @zensical.org and httpx2 by @pydantic.dev are there to pick the community up, it shows (once again), how fragile OSS projects can be.

The Slow Collapse of MkDocs
How personality clashes, an absent founder, and a controversial redesign fractured one of Python's most popular projects.

This address should be coming from the docker daemon. Containerlab does not own this part

There are many moving pieces there. Devpod might also introduce things that affect dns resolution

Everytime you, as a maintainer, see an issue/PR where the OP attaches the pprof with a flame chart you start to pay attention even if you did not intend to at first

I guess what makes the posts about AI worse than they could've been is that people use AI to edit/write them.

If you ever feel useless, remember that there are thousands of monitors that have built-in speakers.

I would love to catch @ecbanks.bsky.social at a bar when he opens up. The amount of BS he has to listen to at the sponsored shows is enormous. And the skin thickness measured in meters I guess.

And once you get used to a web UI that doesn't need to be refreshed and data just appears as it becomes available in the backend - you start to feel annoyed having to F5 things on other websites.

Some things you come to appreciate only after you start using them. I remember being absolutely fine using the 1080p monitor until I got a 4K one, and magically, the grain on 1080p became so annoyingly visible. In @eda.dev Web UI everything is streamed via web sockets, so you never hit Refresh ->

It is this time of the year when a bunch of us are working on the #SReXperts hackathon exercises that attendees gonna dig into. Starting in Tarragona, Spain, this June. I am leading the @eda.dev stream and, oh, boy, you are all in for a treat. We are skating to where the puck is going to be.

When relocating to EU 5 years ago one of the perks was having €50 in your pocket and being able to book a RT flight from Amsterdam to Rome, Berlin, Madrid, Portu, Split. Surely, this never happened =)

Yeah, I went first checking the ima.ge.cx and then saw an issue in the dive repo saying that maintainer is back to work. So maybe dive is going to get up to speed now

@iximiuz.bsky.social nerd sniping: do you know of a tool that is capable of showing the OCI image layers for a media type application/vnd.oci.empty.v1+json dive does not like it... The example image is ghcr.io/eda-labs/banners:v1.0.0-rc1

Building cool networking labs that reach well beyond the networking boundaries and inviting application stacks to the lab playground is why we built @containerlab.dev With KinD and containerized NOSes we can build crazy things that fit in the low-end host just fine.

This lets us create apps that stream the data in whatever format you want and to whatever sink you have. The pics above show how we can create a @prometheus.io endpoint for scraping time series, collect logs with syslog and stream events via pubsub (kafka). It is a paradigm shift worth going thru

Roman Dodin @netdevops.me · 25/02/2025
The "hidden" @eda.dev treasure is that the "event-driven" in the name is not really about you creating automation based on events. But it is an inherent platform design pillar - everything is a signal, everything is streamed, and there is no poll.
