NET-ROL research presented at two European conferences! Kathleen Brown (Leiden University) presented a WP7 working paper exploring how citizens recognise rule of law violations and whether social networks shape these perceptions. Full survey: Sept. 2026. Results expected in 2027.

What do judicial associations actually do? We mapped 34 countries and developed the Index of Judicial Association Activity. Based on interviews with judges in Poland and Hungary, we show how judicial culture shape the role of judicial associations in defending the rule of law. tiny.pl/0qc9yhknk

Rule of law is not defended by courts alone. A new NET-ROL policy brief shows how citizen networks shape whether rule of law erodes or holds. By analysing civic (P-groups) and interest networks (O-groups), it reveals how societies can weaken or defend democratic institutions. tinyurl.com/ycyn8zcw
