Which country's left? I assume you refer to the US? In Italy the right wing keeps on trying to make the Lord of the Rings theirs; while the left (actual left) probably Zerocalcare, which I'd consider pop culture enough now with 3 mini series on Netflix, but I could be wrong 🤔

I don't know what it's caused by specifically but, if you want an example (as a consumer) of how things are going, you should check most anime coming out as simulcast. Italian is nowhere to be seen vs other dubbings, lagging behind by months for some reason.

To clarify, this would've been around 2016. IMHO, Google translate was bad. Then it go decent, but over the last few years it took a dive (due to AI?). As I bilingual every so often I get stuck with a term in one language when I clearly know it in either, I turn to google for help and it fails me

Oh yes, all of them: Impostare, giocare, uscire, alzare, abbassare, regolare, sparare, colpire and so on...

My language was 20-30% behind compared to other FIGS. I got scolded multiple times and ended up with the German tester (who spoke some italian) and Italians from other projects taking my side because the whole situation was absurd. Minimum living wage babyyyy! I couldn't be paid less by law.

When I worked in loc (outsourcing) I ended up on a small project that was clearly translated with google translate or something of the like, at least for Italian. I had to retranslate the whole game because all verbs in every string used bare infinitive instead of present tense.

This Finnish guy has been teaching himself Sumerian, and sent a cuneiform tablet to the British Museum to check his progress. They just emailed him that they've sent him something in the post. I'm now thrilled and excited for a total stranger! Clay tablet mail! www.reddit.com/r/Cuneiform/...

I haven't even started playing and I'm already amazed by Star Wars Zero Company. Thank you! ❤️ I don't know why so few do it but this feels better than just picking a setting from a list without a visual reference, even if I know what kind of colourblindness I have. #accessibility #UI #games

So many missing out on a banger soundtrack too. Which, if I recall correctly, was also used in that ad without permission/copyright?

Feels a bit too real and across all media. I've been trying to stick to GOG a bit more often. I also have an external DVD/bluray writer on its way, I've been feeling like going back to somewhat physical for a while now.

Or at least have dementia kick in to an unmistakable level that makes it impossible to back him up. We should be there alreasy but I guess standards are much lower nowadays. I'd be interested in seeing how another trio would fare too. Putin and Xi Jinping are both 73, who's the 3rd?

Tim Curry had to hurry up before way too many things are sent in... SPACE! 💔 He's getting ready to knock out whatever capitalism-embodiment Musk is planning to send over 🫡

Updating firmwares, the concept of ownership in the age of digital products - the vanishing of software on physical media & having keys giving you access to a product while not actually owning it by the EULA. Car manufacturers trying to force subscription plans for hardware in your vehicle, etc.

Today I finally caught up with The Red String Club, by Deconstructeam. An amazing little gem from 2018 ❤️ It's incredible how much of this has become today's present rather than a possible dystopian future.

Given how many in the industry are unemployed and the current levels of inequality across the board, I'm genuinely surprised there haven't been more Mangione-like cases yet.

On my way back home after the System of a Down concert in Milan. It was really good, after 20 years they are still awesome on stage too. It's only sad and kinda depressing how much the themes and meaning of their songs are still so relevant and contemporary.

Myself and a bunch of friends posing for a group picture while in the pit before the gig kicked off.

I feel that's a natural tendecy for most. Venting frustration, keeping closer to your chest good stuff. That's ok, it can happen. There's still a lot of bad stuff, but lmat least this is positive news: youtu.be/EV-_E8_DI68?...

Welp, all of my hype and hope just died. I guess I could go look for that CD-ROM I have since I was a kid with the first one, I played a lot of it at the arcades and then got really happy when it was given for free with cereal boxes. A mix of nostalgia and really enjoying that game. sigh

I just finished watching Due Spicci (My two cents), the latest series by Zerocalcare. An emotional rollercoaster, one second laughing and the next on the verge of tears. I've been asking some of those questions to myself for quite some time and for many I yet don't have an answer. Go watch it!

Netflix poster for "My Two Cents", Zero is in the middle of the scene, falling backwards while large glass shards surround him, each shard displaying a portion of the face of some of the kther characters, especially their eyes.

Yeah. I live in that magical place that is a big chunk of red. Pianura Padana. Plains entraped between two mountain chains which struggle to get rid of air pollution and heat pockets due to its landscape. 🫠
