"Absolutely no worries at all either way!" I write, in the middle of a complete panic attack.

I predict we’re gonna see a lot of “Short Story Masterclass” advertisements popping up pretty soon.

Fail proof one for my stubborn hiccups: inhale as much as you can, hold, swallow 2-3 times, then inhale even deeper, then swallow 2-3 times again... keep doing this until you have to exhale. It's a weird one, but it works for me when the usual tricks don't work.

I am requesting a moment of silence for the 3 scenes I just had to cut from my screenplay. I am not doing well. I will not be taking questions at this time. Please respect my privacy during this difficult time. #ScriptSky

The WICKED screenplay bolds AND underlines sluglines. I need no further validation. This wins. Have a blessed weekend, #scriptsky

This morning's meeting: "If you can trim about 10 pages off this and tighten it up, I'd be happy to pass it along." This afternoon's meeting: "I think you can let it breathe a bit more and don't be afraid to add another 10 pages." #scriptsky life.

Some shit you need for your screenplay: 1. Normal life shit 2. Shit hits the fan 3. I'm not doing this shit. 4. Guess I'm doing this shit. 5. Fun shit! 6. Midpoint "oh shit" shit. 7. Shit goes sideways. 8. "Why'd I do this shit?" 9. Time to let go of my shit! 10. Denouement #scriptsky #filmsky

Dear #FilmSky: I know we don't like to bring controversial topics to Thanksgiving dinner but PLEASE folks, take a stand for what you believe in, and free your parents' TV from that ungodly motion smoothing that makes everything look like a cursed soap opera.

Yeah, chasing the 8 most definitely isn't the way to go. I use it more as a "temp check" tool than anything else.

I often find that a "Strong 7" on The Black List can be more valuable than a flat out 8. It's that "you're almost there" feedback that REALLY forces me to think critically about how to take the screenplay from good to great, finding that final twist, deeper stakes, plants/payoffs. #ScriptSky

Me, waking up: "The screenplay's already in good shape. I should be able to get through a quick rewrite of the whole thing today." Me, 4 hours later, still rewriting the opening scene, making changes that'll shift the whole damn script:

A scene from the movie Interstellar, showing the astronaut Cooper in a spacesuit, seated in a spacecraft cockpit with a serious and tense expression. The text overlay reads, "This little maneuver's gonna cost us 51 years."

As someone whose screenplay portfolio consists almost entirely of musical projects, seeing WICKED get such universal acclaim gives me hope for the genre in this industry we call the film biz. Here's my attempt to share my first video on Bluesky — a snippet of my latest musical short film, PIVOT.

#Scriptsky hive mind — what do you do with strong, but old scripts that more or less have run their course and are unlikely to ever get produced? Do they sit in the metaphorical drawer? Used for fellowship applications? Become something you just dream (and cry) about?

Is it #Scriptsky introduction time? Short:I write musicals. Long: I’m Nerris aka “NerrBear.” I write coming-of-age semi-autobiographical musical screenplays inspired by my 1st gen upbringing as a mixed Latino/MENA kid with three learning disabilities. And yes, I’ve got a *team* of therapists.

One of my favorite screenwriting notes: ‘Take an “is” pass.’ When an action line says someone ‘is’ something, it’s almost always an opportunity to show, not tell. 🚫She is walking ✅She glides through the crowd 🚫He is happy ✅His eyes light up. “Is” sits still. Action lines should move. #ScriptSky

Also, for my fellow #screenwriters who share my love for #LosAngeles: I've been a lifelong photographer here, and have tons of aerial/panorama images on my website you can download for free. People have used these as mobile backgrounds, printed gifts, in decks & banners, etc. Download link below:

As a #screenwriter with ADHD, using the Pomodoro Technique has been super helpful: Basically, you write for 25 minutes, then take a 5 minute break that eventually becomes 49 minutes of scrolling through Bluesky. It's awesome.
