Eliminating EPA environmental protections will create a long legacy of human exposure to toxins. It doesn’t just “turn off” but persists in the watershed and the body for years.

As of June 1, nearly 25% of the people arrested by ICE in the interior and sent to detention had NO CRIMINAL RECORD. Data from the last six years, including 1.5 years of Trump's first term, reveals how this is completely unprecedented. It also helps explain the growing backlash.
Chart showing "Percent of People In ICE Detention With No Criminal Record, among those arrested by ICE inside the country and sent to detention"

The chart goes back to May 2019. From May 2019 through spring 2020, when COVID hits, the percentage hovers between 9% and 11%. It then drops to around 5% during COVID, which continues to be the broad baseline throughout most of Biden's term, occasionally jumping higher for a few weeks/months, but often returning to the 5-6% baseline. Then after Trump is elected, it jumps straight to 18% for a month, and then rises to 23% as of June 1.

🚨 The LA protests escalated fast. DHS called in the National Guard, and reports say Marines may be deploying next. The city is still on edge. 📢 If you’re out there, protect yourself and your crew. 📲 Save this. Share it. Stay safe out there.

Goes to show, the American people are distinct from the American government, and their views, values, and actions do not always align with those of the people and institutions that represent them.

The U.S. higher education system used to be one of our best industries. Students came from all over the world to be educated here and the government-funded research spurred new technologies and start-up companies. Now it’s being bankrupted like a Trump casino. What a waste of talent and opportunity

The vast majority people on Medicaid who can work do. They’re the people supporting our communities on poverty wages. Study after study confirm that work requirements don’t increase employment and function as cuts that punish the low-wage workforce, seniors, children, and people with disabilities.

Wow. The U.S. higher education and scientific research ecosystem was one of the best in the world. This administration really is going to crash it into the ground. Effects will be felt for decades as a lack of new researchers, a decrease in innovation, and a slow down in new high-tech companies.

A new study by economists estimates that a 25% cut in science funding would result in a GDP decline similar in magnitude to the 2008 recession. They also estimate that a 75% cut to government science would trigger a larger GDP decline than in any recession since the Great Depression.
