I've been quiet for a while. Life has been a -lot-. BUT! Looking forward to returning to TTRPG design work... kick out some local backlog first as I try to avoid the Florida heat. Will it be worms? Moose? The looming specter of a mostly-finished campaign world? Who knows!

I LOVE this piece - it's Zulkir Dar'lon Ma of Thay! He was created for my Kyuss themed adventures and later became a key player in the Red War adventures

After production is wrapped on this stuff for Gamehole Con, I'm in limbo with TTRPG contracts. Not actively seeking anything and generally deferring to other talented creators. Might take up some review of other systems, might return to this Miskatonic project I've had floating around for too long.

I love designing new RPG content. I hate transcribing/formatting stat blocks. Anyways, I hope everyone coming to Gamehole Con in October really digs this epic adventure, the capstone for the new Wardens of the Eastern Marches campaign that launches there!

I once ran a streaming game where Matt Lillard was one of my players. Alongside the DDAL admins, Beadle (of Beadle & Grimm's!) explored Undermountain where he was chosen by a sentient ioun stone. This is a copy of the mechanics & lore for that stone!

I'm at a Buffalo Wild Wings in Medina, OH. It's 930 pm. I feel like this is the opening scene of a Call of Cthulhu scenario.

I've recently picked up an itch to write like mad again. Between a couple projects and my own notes/ongoing thing, I think I'm around 30k words in the last 10 days. That's one benefit of work travel: I hole up in the hotel room and scribble each night.

Oh hot damn. @steamforgedgames.bsky.social is bringing back the Pressgang program for Warmachine - just announced at Adepticon in Milwaukee. Not sure if it will cover their RPG play, but having this program return is HUGE.

Gary Con is all done, and now I've gotta get these TTRPG products wrapped up. Boston next week, and d8 Summit on the near horizon!

From a lunch conversation today: Henry Cavill as Sabertooth, and Daniel Radcliffe as Wolverine. I'm in favor!

I want to write more, but it's an expensive proposition. People rages against realistic prices for PDFs, scream "PDFs should be FrEe!!", etc. Time is expensive. Art is expensive, be it visual or text. I'm asking myself more and more "is publishing this worth my time?" a lot. Mental health, yo.

HAHAHAHAHA there's no syntax checking or anything, you can make up source email addresses and hit this form. I mean, if you were into such things.

Oh hey, the hr@opm.gov address is accepting emails again. We should be reporting what we did last week, right?

Who's gonna find me at Gary Con in a couple weeks? I'm running some preview games for the upcoming Gamehole Con "Wardens of the Eastern Marches" campaign but I have plenty of available time as of right now!

D&D @ Gen Con is moving from the JW Marriott over the Lucas Oil Stadium. I think this means that they're either gonna fight the True Dungeon folks, or combine forces for what is possibly the most epic LARP event Indy has ever seen. www.dndbeyond.com/posts/1914-d...

I WAS gonna attend Magic Con Chicago this weekend, but a confluence of events has resulted in that plan being canceled. SO! I guess I'm reading up on Call of Cthulhu 7th edition this weekend instead :)

I've long looked at the LEGO Harry Potter kits and thought "those are pretty cool" which was immediately followed by "but JK Rowling is a piece of work". Anyways, don't look at aliexpress. Definitely don't look at sets that are like 20% of the original price.

The ENNIES have rescinded the "we'll allow AI" stance they had adopted, which is good. BUT. Why was it permitted in the first place? The ENNIES are to celebrate creators. Human creators. AI isn't a creator, it's a mathematical algorithm. It doesn't create, it extrapolates and expounds.

If you can't afford to be in business without stealing from others, YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO BE IN BUSINESS. Fuck out of here with that bullshit noise. AI -can- be done ethically. GPT is not, never has been, never will be, ethical.

I'm considering running some Kyuss-themed D&D gamedays. Online games, running through my Kyuss content... and possibly more! Likely kick off in January. Would be weekend games, 6 hour blocks with a break in the middle, online. Not sure that running these at our house is feasible currently, heh.

Am I at PAX-U? No. Am I writing? Also no. What I'm doing, though, is working on Christmas presents while prepping for some True Dungeon games this weekend - and panels for The Illusion. Next up, The Role of Isolation panel, Sat Dec7 @ ~11:10am Eastern! www.twitch.tv/illusionhorror

I've got about 7 hours in on BG3 and I think that's enough for me. I get why people enjoy it, but it's not for me. I may try again with casual multiplayer eventually, but for now it's gone to the ranks of the uninstalled.

Ok, so. I've had 4 TTRPG pitches returned to me because they were "too similar to Baldur's Gate 3" which I've never played. I watched the demo video but turn-based video games just aren't my jam. But, traded some excess RPG stuff for a Steam key so let's see what this is all about, eh?

Normally I write horror things. Worms, big decisions, morals and ethics. But recently? It's all just exhausting. Let's be nice for awhile and maybe I'll get back to inflicting fictional trauma in due time.

In 2020 @alexkammer.bsky.social and I started talking about The End of Everything. Well, after 3 years it's HeeEeEEeeeRE! The Kickstarter announce page is up, with campaign very very soon. The book is done, the stretch goals are written, and we're excited! www.kickstarter.com/projects/fro...

So not only is the Kickstarter coming, I also turned in a big 'ol pitch to another publisher recently. I'm VERY excited about it, so waiting for feedback is kinda nerve-wracking. And I got momentum on another wormy overdue project. Aaaaand... such is the life of a creative. When it rains it pours!

I'm extricating myself from "that other place". Who's writing awesome TTRPG stuff? What are you excited about? Me, I've got a kickstarter coming NEXT WEEK for a project I started in 2020!!
