Why would a scammer send a fake "refund" check? Why go through the trouble? Just go radio silent and be done. Why send a fake check? It doesn't make sense. My trust and faith in humanity is shaken. But why priority-mail a fake check?

And logically I know that's not true. At worst this will elicit an "anything we can do?" which then makes me feel more seen. It's a University. Nobody gets fired for taking time off. If anything I'm being flexible. I'm not cheating any system.

Brutal week. Just let work know that I'm dealing with "The Nonsense" again today and will likely not be around much. And then I feel like I'm both lying and letting the team down. Which then leads to a spiral that starts at "They're mad" and ends with "I'm going to get fired." #adhd #rsd

Credit Union thinks the check I got from the "innocent woman in the middle of this" is fake. So I may still be out $2k. My daughter thinks she knows the guy's identity. I'm not so sure. Time to call the FBI.
