The console game industry is looking so bleak now that all of the big three are bumping up their prices, maybe it's about time I make a Steam account and move to it

A new VGC ladder just went live on showdown? Must be a good time to add more VGC sets for it into the Damage Calc! Hope these VGC 2011 sets help (Also finally adding Rivalry functionality)! idk why everyone keeps talking about Regi though none of the Regis are legal in 2011

My best Global Challenge run yet! I did some actual practice with this team before the tour like simulating a GC run and I think it paid off. Also stopped early with 9 games left. Might post the team tomorrow, not sure. Hope it's enough for top 32 (and for Liberty Note results)

I need to make that Nimbasa City Post account soon so I don't have to post event results on main

I think my goal tonight for the GC is going to be to get to high 1600s, and if I don't burn through too many games, I'll finish the run tomorrow

000

I think I'll stream the first couple games of the GC tonight (like 5ish maybe more) and then I might discuss Pokémon Champions after

000

Tbf 2017 did set a precedent of forcing people to immediately move

000

I know I just got a big prediction wrong from this past presentation but I'm thinking that surely the Worlds announcement this year for vg is going to be the release date for Champions Shadow drop after the ceremony if they're real

Alex Collins @nerdofnow.bsky.social · 23/02/2025

~12 hours until the Pokémon presents, I'm gonna say the only mainline info we're getting is an SV tera raid and a Z-A trailer I'm also predicting that we'll get enough info on Z-A to tell that we WILL play VGC on it

I got destroyed this GC so I think I need to move some of my practice to in game ladder Also ngl I think streaming my run without the mic on does best for my mental, would recommend if the GCs mess with your mental too

Alex Collins @nerdofnow.bsky.social · 02/02/2025

I'll go live again with the rest of my GC games in ~15 minutes

000

Alex Collins @nerdofnow.bsky.social · 01/02/2025

I think I'll start streaming my GC run in an hour or two

Multilingual support is probably a pipe dream right now, not just because the result text and set names don't necessarily translate well, but also everything will need to be able to switch between the different languages seamlessly

000

Alex Collins @nerdofnow.bsky.social · 28/01/2025

I feel like I'm close to completing the damage calc. My to-do list currently has adding a multicalc mode, creating a mobile-friendly UI, updating Gens 1 and 2 calculations to be on par with the other gens, adding VGC sets to gens without them, and adding multilingual support. Am I missing anything?

I forgot to make a post like a week or two ago but better late than never. The Damage Calc now has Gen 5 VGC sets, and a dropdown menu for Hidden Power IV spreads for gens 3-6! I also made the app run a little faster overall. nerd-of-now.github.io/NCP-VGC-Dama...

Waiting for everyone else to get off of the other platform

Another: weather doesn't affect Quark Drive, and terrain doesn't affect Protosynthesis.

Another one to add: if both sun and another weather are present turn zero, and the other weather goes first, the Booster Energy will be consumed and Protosynthesis will activate before sun (I think it's safe to assume the same would happen with Quark Drive and electric terrain).

100

Just to add context, this is what happens in every other case without weather/terrain. All other turn zero abilities activate, then Booster Energy activates, and because of this activation order, the same Roaring Moon from the previous video gets a Speed boost instead of an Attack one.

100

This is relevant for something like a Roaring Moon with an Attack boosting Booster Energy, because if your weather setter outspeeds the opponent's Intimidate, you get the boost in Attack before they can lower your Attack and change the boost to Speed.

140

This also works with Quark Drive and an ability that sets terrain other than electric terrain.

Learned about an odd interaction today at a local: On turn zero, if a Pokemon with Protosynthesis holding a Booster Energy and a Pokemon with a weather ability that doesn't set sun enter the field, Protosynthesis activates immediately after the weather ability.
