The Little Mermaid (on VHS). I was scared very easily as a child, and Ursula was too spooky for me. (I don't scare THAT easily now, but I'm still not a fan of horror.)

It's getting close to five years for me (time sure flies), and I'm doing great now! I hope that things are going well for you, and will only keep getting better!

I don't know if this has been your experience as well, but once that part of my brain unlocked, I started to experience dysphoria about parts of my body that I previously had no problem with but I started to see as obstacles to being gendered correctly.

This was my experience as well! In my case, a stranger pointed at me and used "she" while I was wearing a COVID mask, and that unlocked a part of my brain that insisted I should do everything possible to make that happen again.

This is the first time I've seen the word "Malfoid" and I'm hoping against hope that I never read it again after today. I'm blissfully ignorant of the context. (Please don't change that.)

Technically this is actually a laser gun. Or possibly a charged particle gun. The game is a little inconsistent about the terminology.

Dani @nerdanel.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

That's true if you don't count the mobile game! The handgun in the mobile game looks more like some sort of repainted Nerf gun than anything as realistic as this, though. And its primary use is summoning people from other universes instead of making holes in people. Somehow.

It was also a wild choice to make everyone horny and out of character in the very second episode, when what constitutes "in character" was not yet firmly established.

Well, they had an Encounter. At a place called Farpoint.

Of course I do! As a woman, I think it's perfectly reasonable for me to hope I'm not seated next to a man I get a bad vibe from.

If she did everything the easy way, she wouldn't be a wizard! (And probably wouldn't have a flock of rust monsters, either.)

I think drafting is in itself fun, even if the result of the draft is very low powered decks. I once did a draft with "packs" pulled at random from a friend's bulk commons, mostly pre-8th edition, and that was still at least a little bit fun. So, if you are trying to minimize fun, I'd say sealed.

Overwhelmingly confused, mostly. Also a little bit disappointed that I'm not a paleontologist, but only a little.

I often skip those sorts of super precise movement challenges, but I actually did all the shinespark puzzles in Dread, and I really enjoyed them. At my aptitude level, it was exactly challenging enough to give me maximum satisfaction from succeeding, without making me rage quit first.

So when libs say, you need to do incremental progress like gay marriage, it completely ignores the rollbacks that have happened in 5 years. It is every aspect of trans life from where we use the bathroom, how we are addressed, what our IDs say, to even censorship on discussions about our existence.

If Republicans win, the next two or four years are rough on everyone but the oligarchs. If transphobic Democrats win and mainstream Democrats embrace transphobia in their platform, us trans folks have it rough for a generation. We're already seeing this happen in the UK.

I don't remember the context in detail now, but I remember my brother coming up with a plan that one member of the party completely ignored, and my brother said, "No plan survives first contact with THE PEOPLE WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO CARRY IT OUT FOR YOU."

I tried DuckDuckGoing "NOICE 2026" and most of what I found was in reference to the "NATO Open Innovation Conference & Expo," which cannot possibly be right, but I love the idea that a NATO conference has an artists' alley, and that it's specifically for indie comics.

Maybe we could have avoided releasing Bolas and Emrakul and almost killing everyone in the multiverse if someone had just given the girl some estrogen. (But seriously I really liked the Reality Fracture story, too.)

Blurbs for licensed LEGO sets are always like that as well. I remember making fun of how all the ™ marks broke up the flow of the text back when the first licensed Star Wars sets came out.

I dunno. You influenced me to get back into LEGO.

I know I watched some of the original Mobile Suit Gundam on Toonami when I was in middle school, and I hardly remember any of it now, but I feel sure I saw this thing. I can't shake the suspicion that it, or something like it, appears in doodles in the margins of my middle school notebooks.

This might be my new favorite of yours! I like the colors, the flowers, and how things look through the water. I like that the composition calls back to classic works, but it's still your distinctive style, with the black lips and white jewelry!

The bit that got me wondering about who they are planning to bring with them is the jail. I mean, it's incredibly messed up that they think they need a jail in a community of a single-digit number of people, regardless. But are they threatening to jail family members or are they bringing others?

Dani @nerdanel.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

This is my feel as well! I now only really recommend the first book to my friends. I like the first three, but I think they start to decline relatively quickly after that, and the first one is the only one that doesn't end on a big cliffhanger.

In my Traveller game I introduced a bounty hunter/Twitch streamer, and as expected the party instantly decided that he was more unforgivable and deserving of death than the precursor alien who was cooking up a genocide.

I'm assuming backlash from trans fans (and maybe even personal friends?) of Hoult after the announcement went public was enough to convince him to back out. Rowling has poured so much money directly into eroding trans rights, anyone who helps her make more money is persona non grata.

Do you use references? I don't usually, but I consider that a bad habit, because they definitely help! And as a part time figure drawing model, I've gotta plug that. Practicing with live models can help you understand anatomy and perspective even when you no longer have the model in front of you.

Millipedes aren't venomous (they don't bite) but they will excrete a mild poison from their skin if frightened, so make sure you wash your hands after handling them!
