My bike polo friends in Geneva interviewed me for their polo podcast before I moved to Finland. We talked about a bunch of bike polo and life related things. (in English!) Give it a listen! www.buzzsprout.com/2530158/epis...

Tenura and I have arrived in Helsinki! Happy to be someplace for more than a couple nights lugging a bunch of stuff around.

My third PhD chapter to get published (one more to go!!!). This project examined the biogeography and divergence estimates of Calosoma (Carabophanus) gestroi from the Ethiopian Highlands. We used HyRAD-X to recover genomic markers mostly from fresh specimens. doi.org/10.1093/evol...

Orogeny of Ethiopian sky islands and Pliocene climate shifts promoted budding speciation and complex admixture in flightless Calosoma ground beetles
Abstract. Flight loss, through its effect on the resulting dispersal capacity and gene flow, has been proposed as a driver of diversification. Ground beetl

Another chapter of my thesis is out! We used genomic data generated from across the range of the Western Balkan highland endemic beetle Calosoma pentheri support the recognition of two distinct species. Biogeography, divergence estimates, phylo & population genetics, etc.

Special Issues: they attract authors, giving them editorial power. Also it's easy for publishers to shrug off bad papers using the good SIs and heterogeneity as cover -- SIs are in when it's useful, out when it's not. They are so widespread at Gold OA publishers that special is the new normal.

Sculpturing is going to be the worst of doing all this. The balance between illustration and realism is hard
